About Ovall
A unique trio consisting of group members Shingo Suzuki, mabanua, and Shingo Sekiguchi that come together to form the Indie-Alternative band, Ovall.
Shingo Suzuki, mabanua, and Shingo Sekiguchi are all multi-players who in addition to their band work, are also active in the industry as solo artists, musicians, and producers.
Since 2006, they have solidified their activities with the current lineup, maintaining a focus on musicianship rather than genre. They place jazz, soul, hip-hop, and rock on equal footing, and seamlessly move between live performance playing and sampling, throwing a mixture of sounds into their “oval (Ovall) groove”.
Their innovative style and unique sound gradually attracted attention, leading to numerous production and collaboration requests from filmmakers, directors, and various artists both in the domestic and international music markets.
While each member became increasingly active in their solo careers, their busy schedules led to a double-edged sword, resulting in a hiatus of the band in 2013. Each pursued their individual expressions, but the demand for the unique ensemble of these three persisted. Responding to these continued requests, they resumed activities in 2017 after four years.
Soon after Ovall’s regrouping, they performed at major domestic festivals such as the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL, and collaborated with artists worldwide, while also conducting live tours overseas.
Bringing together their variety of skills and their “know-how” mindset cultivated through their solo activities, the band continues to roll on, drawing an Ovall path.
