Through three studio albums as an artist and hundreds of releases as producer/engineer for other artists, he always puts the song first. Award nominations for Song of the Year at the 2006 and 2009 Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, plus nominations and wins in song competitions in the United States, France, and Canada, have reinforced his love for writing songs with meaning. In addition to writing, recording and producing records, Allister also teaches songwriting at SongStudio, the longest-running independent songwriting workshop in the world.
