About The Grey Curtain
The Grey Curtain is a five-piece band hailing from Worcester, Massachusetts. With influences as diverse as Pearl Jam, Type O Negative, Pink Floyd, A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, and many others, The Grey Curtain has become known for its eclectic styles and powerful, emotional live performances. THE NAME: People have described the condition of having a detached retina as, "like a grey curtain coming down", or a shadow that spreads across their field of vision. Similarly, the dark depression and utter despair that can be experienced as part of the human condition may also be aptly described in this way: "No colour left just shades of grey, when the ray of life starts to decay, I’m a shadow of a man." -excerpt from The Grey Curtain song 'The Bleeder' It doesn't have to all be bleak however, as the character Frodo notes towards the very end of The Lord of the Rings, "And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise." -The Grey Havens, Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien THE BEGINNING: Dennis Leighton formed The Grey Curtain in February 2014 after being the frontman and/or bassist in numerous local bands for almost 2 decades. Bill Casey, Keith Conway, Ted Mailloux, Jim Miller, and Dave Suhocke were handpicked from talented musicians Leighton had worked with over the years, either as former bandmates or from respected bands he had booked and performed with in the past. Almost immediately, a solo concept that Leighton had been crafting on the side for many years had become a fully-formed band project named Dennis Leighton yielding in powerful sets at the Hard Rock Cafe Foxwoods in March 2014. In April 2014, the name of the band was changed to The Grey Curtain. The official Facebook page of The Grey Curtain
