Somethin' Sweet

Somethin' Sweet is an Original Country Rock/Americana band out of Hattiesburg, MS. Starting as a acoustic college bar act, front-man Gary Stanton and drummer Sam Newman began playing together under the name, "The Shady Sigz," as they we're both in fraternities that started with Sigma--the name fit. Deciding that the band needed another "Sig", the duo added Newman's childhood friend, lead guitarist Dillon Douglas. They started making a name for themselves playing around Hattiesburg, while including some of Stanton's originals in their sets. Soon after the trio began performing together, Stanton had a song the went viral on the web, which resulted in him receiving a lot of recognition as a songwriter. There had been talk from the "Sigz" of starting a full band but, they didn't put their plans into action until early February of 2014. They decided to finally do it but, not before adding 4th man to the group who is now their bassist, Caleb Herrington. The group had to come up with a more marketable name for their career path and after a lot of deliberation, they came to the conclusion that "Somethin' Sweet" was the right fit.
