Genie, Child of God basements EP Release, 2014 Murfreesboro Tennessee’s post-rock heart throbs Genie, Child of God (formerly HANDS) have announced that they quietly released a new EP, titled “basements,” on October 19th 2014 and are ready for a few more people to hear it. “basements” is the band’s first effort on a release in nearly seven years. The entirety of the EP was written and recorded in band member Jacob’s tiny, efficiency apartment and is the love of a strict DIY work ethic. The EP is available for download and streaming from http://www.geniechildofgod.bandcamp.com This five track EP shies away from the genre’s more ambience focused cousins, instead choosing to stomp through the hallways of aggressiveness and stress. “basements” is an amalgamation of many ideas drawn from not only musical influences, but also influences in literature, film, and art. Genie, Child of God was originally called HANDS and was for a while just two dudes making piano driven post-rock music. That was 2006 to 2008 or so. Now it is three dudes doing the same thing.
