About The Monobloggers

"2009 was a weird one. The band was formed and it was one of the best things I ever did, but it came at a time when I felt so desperately lonely. The comforting ache of the summer holidays. Old flames, old pains, insane girls with no names. They all found their way into the songs. Maybe it was a good thing the band was formed when I was 18 and depressed? Out of the darkness cometh light, or rather, good songs. None of us liked the same music, and that helped; we were able to simply write songs without barriers. A song wasn't dumped for being too poppy, or too heavy, if we liked it, it stayed. This meant many of our songs were different from the next - the opener would be a heavy flush of guitar rock, the next would be all acoustic guitars and light drums. I always liked that about the band, we were impossible to pigeonhole, it was never just meat & potatoes indie. Lyrically, we pre-dated Taylor Swift. We influenced 'Red' (she won't admit it). Songs about love and how it can take over someone, how it can ruin someone, and how it can - occasionally - better someone. How girls can be evil but romantic, how boys can be both, how crap love can be but we still fall into it. Now the time feels right again. The batteries are recharged, the heart is hard to find. Again, it's always about finding the perfect chorus...the search goes on." - Sam Lambeth, 2013 Making choruses since 2009.
