Falls Festival (AUS) New Zealand-born, Melbourne-based Lance Ferguson is a Producer, Guitarist, Songwriter, DJ and recording artist. He divides his time between releasing Pop/Electronica under his LANU guise, leading Australia’s premier Soul outfit THE BAMBOOS, and lending his production, songwriting and guitar skills to a multitude of Australian & international artists. Lance comes from a line of music makers that started with his Hawaiian-guitarist grandfather Bill Wolfgramm who recorded NZ's first ever LP record back in 1956. Keeping with the family tradition, his first foray into production was releasing Australia’s very first Deep Funk 45/7" vinyl single with The Bamboos in 2001. Since then he has produced 22 full-length albums and over 50 singles for labels including Warner, Sony, Universal. Tru Thoughts (UK), Ubiquity (USA), Inertia (Aus), Freestyle (UK), Kaydee (USA), Soul Source (Japan), Pacific Theatre, Equatorial, Local People & Bamboo Shack (AUS). He has collaborated on musical projects with artists including: Aloe Blacc (U.S), Daniel Merriweather (Aus/U.S), Ms Murphy (The Voice AUS), Quantic (U.K), Lyrics Born (U.S), Bobby Fox (Aus), Alice Russell (U.K), Megan Washington (AUS), Melanie Pain (Fr), Bobby Flynn (AUS), TY (U.K), Ohmega Watts (U.S) , Bobby Fox (AUS), Kero One (U.S), Kylie Auldist (AUS) Paul MacInnes (SWED) & Tyra Hammond (NZ). His releases have received chartlistings and radio play from key tastemakers including; Gilles Peterson (BBC6), Richard Kingsmill (Triple J), Benji B, Don Letts, Jon Kennedy, Nemone, Mark Lamarr, Craig Charles (BBC6), Peter Young (Jazz FM), Patrick Forge (Kiss FM), Jazzanova, Nicola Conte, Nik Weston, Rainer Truby, Ennio Styles, Kenny Dope & Keb Darge. Lance's music has been included on over 180 different CD complilations and on high-rating TV shows including: Grey's Anatomy, CSI NYC, Ugly Betty, Hellcats, Suits, One Tree Hill, Packed To The Rafters, Recruits, Offspring, Bondi Rescue, House Husbands, Dumb, Drunk & Racist and Underbelly. His music has also featured in the feature films Good Hair (Chris Rock), Adoration (Naomi Watts) and Crazy, Stupid Love (Steve Carell). In 2010 his co-composition for The Bamboos; 'Can't Help Myself' was nominated in the 'Blues & Roots Work Of The Year' category at the annual APRA Music awards. In 2011 the Lanu track 'Beautiful Trash' was the most-played track on Triple J (Aus) for the week ending Feb 5th. The video clip for 'Beautiful Trash' directed by Lucy Dyson took out the overall first prize 'Best Video Clip' category at the 2011 St Kilda Film Festival SOUNDkilda Awards. In 2012 The Bamboos album 'Medicine Man' was nominated for three Aria Awards including 'Best Urban Album', 'Best Independent Album' and 'Best Live Act'. In 2013 Lance was employed as Musical Director for the Foxtel music variety show 'Studio At The Memo' hosted by Tim Rogers. An accomplished guitarist, he has performed with artists/acts including; Aloe Blacc (U.S), Syl Johnson (U.S), Eddie Bo (U.S), Eddie Floyd (U.S), Joe Bataan (U.S), Betty Harris (U.S), Alice Russell (U.K), Washington, Kylie Auldist, Mark de Clive-Lowe, The Quantic Soul Orchestra, Lady Alma, Bembe Segue, Doug Parkinson & Renee Geyer.
