About Crewless

Think about bands that have 3 vocalists, like The B52’s, Human League or Mother Mother. The dynamic between 3 voices allows you to pull off a very wide musical palette. Maybe it’s the human energy flowing between the singers, and the power that comes when everyone attacks a chorus together playing live. Maybe it’s the fearless feeling you get when you’re doing something as a group, it allows you to push beyond places you would go on your own. Capturing that energy is the essence of Crewless, with Jefe, Violet Helm and Makenna on vocals.

The musical backbone is “house music with punk guitars”, but that is a very loose rule. The music has to make you bob your head. That’s non negotiable. Maestre G takes care of the soundscapes with his guitar and dj decks.

Also, there’s the 2 versions thing. Crewless likes to record 2 versions of songs. You’ll generally see an indie version and one more electronic (this can be a more synth heavy arrangement or a house version made for the club). The idea for that comes from G's multi cultural childhood, “there’s always more than one way to say something”.

Their first single, 'Elevator' received critical acclaim from over 40 publications, attaining the #1 spot on the popular chart at Hype Machine on 2 different weeks.

Crewless has been pushing the limits of expression via sound and fashion in their hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah, and their influences include The Ting Tings, Tame Impala, Daft Punk and The Kills.
