Alex Weksler

NYC based singer-songwriter Alex Weksler is an intuitive folk/pop musician gifted with the rare ability to speak to her audience with expressive and poignant lyrics. The first thing that strikes you about her are her vocals: a powerful soul-steeped voice, improbably channeled through such a slender frame. In her recordings and gripping live performances, she wields her voice as an instrument to weave textured stories and melodies that vibrate with the transformative power of music. Growing up in a household that nurtured and encouraged her musical desires, Alex’s style was influenced by a heavy diet of 60’s and 70’s indie acts such as Fleetwood Mac, Simon and Garfunkel, and Carole King. Having fully immersed herself in music by the time she was in middle-school, Alex discovered the therapeutic joy of turning real-life stories into vibrant lyrical compositions, and never looked back. Starting with a lively public rendition of “Mean” by Taylor Swift, in her sophomore year at high school, Alex progressed to performing sold-out shows at iconic venues in New York, such as The Bitter End, Revolution Bar, Sidewalk Cafe and Rockwood Music Hall. Alex Weksler’s debut EP Air is a rich catalog of honest, touching songs about carefree nights out that turned into unrequited crushes and inevitably shaky relationships. Throughout the album, she takes the listener through a personal journey and creating an undeniable connection with her audience. Among the signature tracks on the EP is “That Night”, replete with stunning riffs from her acoustic guitar. “Air,” which sprang to life as a tearful lament written in a bathroom, is a heart-rendering melody lush with Alex’s electrifying and soulful vocals. Songs like “Gold,” “Chase Me” and “Stranger I Know” take you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions and grip you with words and music that are both generous and genuine. In a brief span, Alex has managed to distill the purest essence of the rhythmic soul of folk music and infuse it into a bouquet of splendid songs.
