About Three Girl Rhumba

Three Girl Rhumba are London-based musicians Tom Thurgood, James Sefton, Ed Day & Ian Lee. An eclectic, upbeat blend of big rhythms and sundrenched melodies, the bands releases to date show a contemporary approach to 77-era Talking Heads and Paul Simon. Tom, James and Ian met at primary school and as teens played in bands in Nottingham's blossoming music scene. In 2014, now in London living with Ed Day, Three Girl Rhumba were formed over a love of alternative music. Rehearsing on the top floor of a clothes factory in Haringey, the band quickly garnered a strong reputation within the M25 for their energetic live shows. Their debut single 'Minnie Driver' was released in December 2015 and was premiered by Clash Magazine, who said the song was "a veritable ear-worm, a contagious piece of melody that is quite irresistibly English...". Recorded at the famous Strongroom Studios (Radiohead, Adele, The XX) in East London, the song received radio play from Dean Jackson of BBC Introducing show The Beat and the accompanying music video starred Humans (Channel 4 / AMC) actor Lucy Carless. Following a sellout show at The Barfly Camden and a headline show for BBC Introducing at Rough Trade Nottingham, the band release their next single 'Pica' on 30th September 2016 followed by the single 'Budget Day' on 28th October 2016. Both singles were recorded at Strongrooms Studio where the band prepare to work on their debut album. london foursome, mostly music in weird time signatures but keen to learn 4/4
