Celebrating two decades of an accomplished music career, Kristine Mills continues to impress international audiences, music press and critics with her songwriting, extensive repertoire, and polished, sophisticated vocals. Kristine, the winner of the Houston Press Music Awards 2010 “Best Songwriter” and the 2009 “Best Female Vocalist,” is recording her fourth cd of all original music, As Yet Untitled - scheduled for a May /June 2011 release. May 2009 Kristine released, bossanovafied , a collection of all original songs written by Mills, arranged as bossa novas and recorded in Rio de Janeiro. bossanovafied received national and international attention through traditional and Internet radio play. bossanovafied debuted at #46 on the World Music Album Chart - JazzWeek - February 22, 2010. bossanovafied short-listed for the 52nd Grammy nomination consideration in the "Best Jazz Album with Vocals" category. Songs from bossanovafied were broadcast on the in-flight radio of domestic and international carriers including "Sweet Sorrow" on Continental Airlines in 2010. November 2010, Kristine performed three showcases during the Miami Music Festival. August 2009, Kristine headlined the 2009 Brazilian International Jazz Festival. Kristine and her Rio-based, bossanovafied band, performed jazz, bossa nova and bossanovafied to sold-out theaters in Recife, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. Other career highlights include her guest vocalist appearance with the Duke Ellington Orchestra in the 2007 Brazilian International Jazz Festival tour in Brazil., plus an appearance with the Duke Ellington “small” Orchestra for the 50th Jubilee Celebration of the Mies van der Rohe Society in Chicago. Her 2nd cd, Kristine Mills - Playing with the Big Boys LIVE, was recorded during a live, performance with veteran members of the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Mills has performed at iconic jazz clubs including New Orleans’ famed Snug Harbor, Bourbon Street in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the House of Blues-Houston. Kristine Mills is a voting member of NARAS (The Grammys). Mills, "bold, blonde entertainer outta the old school" is known for her songwriting, extensive repertoire, and polished, sophisticated vocals!
