LIFE AS WAR

LIFE AS WAR was founded in Vevey (west Switzerland) at the end of 2004 by four ex members of Driven By Hate and the singer of Strength of Despair. After the departure of one of their guitarists at the beginning of 2007, a good friend and ex bass player of Dawn Of Suffering came to complete the team. 2005 was the year things really started out for Life As War with the release of a 4 track demo which received a positive feedback from the swiss hardcore scene. By the time summer of 2005 had showed up, the band had enough songs to go around the country and play shows with the likes of As We Fight, Born From Pain, Despise, Sentence, Lowlife and Fall of Serenity. In 2006, they recorded their first full length album ULTIMA RATIO at the Audio Strike Studio in Vevey and then played lots of other shows with bands such as Black Friday' 29, Cro-Mags, Sick of it all, Shipwreck ad, Municipal Waste, Providence, Awaken Demons, Have Heart, Verse, Walls of Jericho, Embraced By Hatred, Solid Ground and State of Mind. Having played lots of shows in their country, the band seized the opportunity to play Germany and France in autumn 2008. We are a band that is drawn together by everyday life and are friends before being musicians. These bonds unite us on and off stage and through our music. We play a pissed off groovy and rhythmical Hardcore and give everything we possibly can when we have the opportunity to play shows. Our aim as a band is to try to raise awareness towards social problems that are too often viewed as taboo by our modern age States. Themes such Loneliness, Old Age and Suicide are a way for us to approach the dysfunctions of society. As much as we love hardcore, we try to remain deeply critical towards the movement and towards ourselves. In 2009 the band recorded an EP entitled “To Tell You This” with Vladimir Cochet (Conatus studio), released on What we believe records (Marseille, FR). With this new release Life As War were able to take their music to a new level, presenting a much faster and straight forward hardcore. They had the chance to do a 10 day tour, travelling to France, Spain and Portugal, receiving great feedback after every show. Life As War took their music to a new stage, bringing on maturity and a certain open mindedness to other genres in the musical world, combining hardcore and black metal in a interesting and authentic way. We could say that the band has finally found a style that reflects the emotion they want to pass on to the listener. After sadly parting in November with one of their guitarists, the band quickly found a close friend to replace the missing member. 2011, we are at the end of the writing stage of our soon to be released 2nd LP and are going to start recording it in February.
