Nightblooms is the atmospheric and atmosphere-inspired solo project of Karla Manzur (Dana Falconberry, Alejandro Escovedo). The scaled down trio will feature the stunning textural guitar of Lauren Gurgiolo (Octopus Project, Okkervil River). Nightblooms’ lush and ethereal vocals feature lyrics heavily influenced by classical and philosophical themes of time and space, truth and beauty, gravity and the greater forces that that keep us where we are— marrying the art of science to the science of art. Karla Manzur has been performing music in Austin for 17 years, and currently in the bands of Alejandro Escovedo, Dana Falconberry and Abram Shook. As a seasoned vocalist and keyboardist she has appeared on Late Night with David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Austin City Limits (TV and festival) and NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert. She leads the vocal sections and choirs for Alejandro Escovedo and has arranged for his past 2 records alongside legendary producer Tony Visconti, and has included backing up Bruce Springsteen for those recordings and subsequent performances. the solo project of Karla Manzur. new record "Startaker" out now.
