The Afghan Whigs

Greg Dulli and Christopher Thorn tore it up onstage and rocked so hard, with John Curley laying down the loudest baselines and Nelson ripped the strings off of his violin. Ed Harcourt did some virtuosic work on the piano as well, letting Greg do his thing at the microphone. It was an amazing show!

The band was bangin!!! The lights at the venue were blinding to the crowd. The sound mix was a bit questionable (guitar was really light in the mix). Vocals were great and out in front. The transition from Ed Harcordt to the Whigs was really awesome. If it weren’t for the lighting at First Ave, this would have been a 10 on a scale of 1-5.

Fantastic show as usual. The Whigs are egregiously underrated. I've been a huge fan for decades and I have to go to their shows to hang with other fans. Their performance now is as stellar as it's ever been . Consistently brilliant.

Unreal, as always! The Dulli and the Whigs continue to deliver powerful, energetic, and awe-inspiring performances of both old content and new. Waiting for a Gentlemen tour reprise!

What can I say? It's the Motherfucking Afghan Whigs!! Never seen a bad show from anything Greg Dulli-related. Never. Sad the boys didn't come out to chat but that's a privilege we enjoy from time to time, not a right. The Showbox is such a beautiful venue and it was so nice to be back after a long time away. Let's do this again soon!!

Band was great!!! Wish I could have heard more from Do the Beast, but it was amazing! Venue was great but there were no real covid protocols. I don't think that's a huge issue, but the ticket agency sent a few emails saying there would definitely be requires masks, negative covid tests or vaccination records.

Wow, what an amazing experience! Always a pleasure catching these guys in concert because they always offer something fresh and new with each album, and it makes for an excellent set when they play the new tunes along with the classics live.

The Afghan Whigs in any form are a 5 star plus show . Seeing them at Bogarts makes it even better . An iconic venue you in my mind . I can't wait to see them on 9/11/22. If you can see Greg Dulli do it every time no matter what.

Laut, energetisch. Akustik ganz vorn war fast schon brutal. Weiter hinten war es ok. Gruß an den Security-Mann (dunkle Haut, geknotete Haare) drinnen, der mir androhte, mich rauszuschmeißen, weil wie er es sagte, es kann. Wofür auch immer. Wichtigtuer, wie ihn, braucht kein Club. Ach ja, Dulli und Co in Hochform. Nette Geste, mitten im Gig Ohrstöpsel an Bedürftige zu verteilen. Schade, kein Lanegan- oder- Gutter-Twins- Cover.

VIP experience was supposed to include soundcheck—umm, 2 songs: no. Cat’s Cradle and/or others didn’t permit things to happen for 95% of soundcheck for the 30+ people who paid ~$150 for a $50 show. Q&A was worth $50, because Dulli is amazing; $30-40 merch. for VIP was nice. Sound was ok, but vocals were *smothered* by amped-up instrumentals—need a soundcheck? I got you, next time—just tell them to let me in! 🤘

One of the greatest and underrated bands of all time! Was so great to see them for the 3rd time and they continue to get better and evolve.

Great to have the Whigs back touring and playing new music. Played a little from throughout their career. Cut the playlist short which is only reason not giving 5 stars.

Great to see The Whigs again! Band was on fire! Nice intimate venue and they definitely rocked it out. Interesting set list..some old..some new. I was impressed with how tight they sounded. I am thrilled I got to see one of my faves again and in Greg's birthday. Amazing show.

After four years of not seeing my favorite band and band buddies, I HAD to fly in from Seattle for this show. Very expensive but well worth every cent. The band was READY! Tight. Excited. Almost as much as the fans! Some fun banter, could have used more, but somebody yelled something at Greg which stopped his bantering. The venue was tiny, but intimate. Yes, there were tears. At least for me. I only took about 3 pictures during the show. I wanted to fully experience it in my head this time and my friends took WAY better pics than I would have. Win/win. It was hard to leave after hanging around after the show. Never can get enough of this band. Looking forward to October unless I find a way to fly to another show. So ... EXCELLENT SHOW!

the V.I.P. experience is definitely WORTH IT. unfortunately, my significant other and I got in a HUGE fight (drunk, of course) and neither one of us actually stayed for the Whigs... lol but she still says, meeting and hugging Greg was s highlight of her life.... so I did good.

Afghan Whigs were excellent. Built to Spill were mixed poorly, seemed disinterested and played a very short set. BTS shouldn’t be touring as a 3 piece- I’ve seen them as a five piece and they blew the roof off the place. As a 3 piece they lacked something. Also played altered or abbreviated versions of songs that came off light. Its rare you see a band at House of Blues Cleveland that aren’t mixed well- pretty disappointing.

I spent months living like a monk with gentlemen but had never witnessed the passion for their craft.....Munich changed that .....and I have to be careful not to become too greedy.....so half a star is a reminder it is not over

This was a fantastic show!! The Afghan Whigs are one of the best rock bands in existence today. Greg Dulli sounded spot on, and the rest of the band sounded great as well. RIP Dave Rosser.

The Afghan Whigs are killing it on this tour. Get out there and see these guys. HarmarSuperstar has been opening in the states and has put out a cover of Demon in Profile. This is one not to be missed.

It most definitely was a spiritual experience! One of the best shows I have witnessed in 26 years of attending live music. Dulli is a mastermind, and truly an epic performer.
