About Rob Lytle

“His songs stick with you - like gum in your hair!” *

Touring recording artist Rob Lytle has one of the most distinctive and engaging voices on the folk/acoustic scene, a charismatic presence, and the ability to deliver songs with an unaffected honesty and passion. His songs and performances offer audiences a heart filled melodic sensibility, sense of humor, and emotional connection that is deceptively simple, powerful, and real.
In 2010 Rob returned to actively performing and recording after a 12 year absence to focus on his family. He quickly began winning songwriting awards and competitions (Finalist 2011 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Completion and Prize Winner 2010 North Carolina Songwriting Contest) and generating excitement and “buzz” with promoters, fellow performers, and acoustic music fans.
Teaming up with Producer Thomm Jutz (Nanci Griffith) and top Nashville musicians, Rob has just released his CD “You. Must. Stop” in May or 2011. The CD contains 12 tracks including the award winning songs “Like You Do” and “Why They Play The Games”.
Rob is best known as one of the mainstays of the Boston singer songwriter resurgence of the 90's, and for his songs “Cry For The Working Man” and “That’s My Head That’s Talking” both of which have received worldwide airplay and praise. Over the years, Rob has shared the stage with artists such as David Wilcox, Dar Williams, Vance Gilbert, Don White, Brooks Williams, and Martin Sexton and has performed at legendary venues including Passim, Café’ Lena, The Folkway, The Old Vienna Coffeehouse, and the Lowell Folk Festival.
Rob currently splits his time between Apex, NC and Oak Bluffs, MA and tours extensively on the east coast of the U.S. and will be touring Texas and the Midwest in the Fall of 2011 and Spring of 2012.
