Luckily this was my second time seeing Emma, and this time it was in a more intimate venue which was amazing. Her and a couple of guitars, playing stuff from Ocean because of its release 10 years ago, dark horse, and of course Engine of Hell. Such focus and emotion when she sings live; I love the versions of the songs as I feel like no two shows are the same in terms of the way she plays and sings them. She also shared a poem from her new poetry book which was a treat. I can't wait for Emma to come back, or for a new album.

Always a great show. Love how she interpolates the songs for a live performance that is unique to the recordings.

Emma did not disappoint, it was great hearing and seeing her back on her guitars. Her versions of dark horses and real big sky gave me chills. It was a fantastic show in an intimate setting. Littlefield is a fabulous venue. Ora Cohan and her band also put on an epic performance. Thank you artists for adding color something positive in these difficult times.

About Emma Ruth Rundle
Rundle has always been a multifaceted musician, equally capable of dreamy abstraction (as heard on her debut album Electric Guitar: One), maximalist textural explorations (see her work in Marriages, Red Sparowes, Nocturnes or collaborations with Chelsea Wolfe and Thou), and the classic acoustic guitar singer-songwriter tradition (exemplified by Some Heavy Ocean). But on her last album Engine of Hell, Rundle focuses on an instrument that she left behind in her early twenties when she began playing in bands: the piano. In combination with her voice, the piano playing creates a kind of intimacy, as if we’re sitting beside Rundle on the bench, or perhaps even playing the songs ourselves.
