About Deborah Falconer

Deborah Falconer found her voice at a crossroads. Music has always had a strong presence in her world, but the former model/actress had never considered it as a vocation. "I've always been a writer of sorts," she says. "At first, songwriting was just another way for me to express myself." Deborah began writing songs while pregnant with her son, Indio, during her marriage to actor Robert Downey Jr. While her ex's struggle with addiction was widely publicized, she fought behind the scenes, finding herself escaping more and more into music as a source of resolution and peace of mind. For the sake of motherhood and the newfound inspiration she found in song, Deborah set her sights upward. "I remember there being a fork in the road," she recalls. "The freedom I thought I had by avoiding the challenges of my health and addiction paled in experience to my freedom through responsibility. As hard as that process was for me to accept, the other path wouldn't have offered me the option to write about it today." After the release of her first album, Untangle, Deborah immersed herself in writing, recording and performing. She cut her teeth in some of Los Angeles and New York's most high-profile venues, including The Viper Room, House of Blues, Opium Den, Largo, Troubadour, Knitting Factory, Hotel Cafe, Moomba, and Joe's Pub. She has warmed the stage for artists such as Aimee Mann, Sting, Elton John, Daniel Lanois, Beck, Josh Grobin, James Taylor, The Isley Brothers, Jason Mraz, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Her second effort, Brave Like Me, explored a new level of depth and garnered acclaim from fans and critics alike. "Perhaps it's the whole recovering junkie thing," Paste Magazine observed, "but, like James Taylor, her voice has this soothing quality--the hush that follows torrential downpour, thunder and lightning; serenity in wake of the flood." Lift Your Gaze, Deborah's third-length studio album, is a further divination into realms of ardor, soul, and fearless introspection. It was released on October 18th, 2014. This is the official Facebook page for Deborah Falconer. The new album, LIFT YOUR GAZE, is out October 18th, 2014. www.deborahfalconer.com
