About mmpsuf

mmpsuf – could be plainly labelled as an electro-acoustic project. It is made of layers of vocals, harmony, electronic off-beat and steady rhythms, all of which strangely make sense. But the beauty behind this lies in the imagery, spaces and stories, which emerge with it — all so simple but so real. RETINA, the second mmpsuf album was released on the 1st of February, 2012. Music is visible. Along with other objects of the outside world, it presents itself to the watcher by knocking on the photosensitive cells. The cells open widely and escort the guests upstairs, where the mind is always waiting. Then they keenly assemble the Beauty. Dedicated to the Beauty (no matter how sad) mmpsuf continues its expedition. EXPEDITORS, the first mmpsuf release of early 2011, is dedicated to all living beings that serve great missions without choices and much appreciation. Whether it is a canine outer space program, an orbiting frog otolith, or human expedition in life and death, all of them share same features: the choice (or lack of it), the mission (not to be perceived), the oblivion (not to be realised) and the beauty (the saddest one, no matter how beautiful). mmpsuf amalgamates two creators Egle Sirvydyte and Aivaras Ruzgas. Both of them are quite known underground music figures in Vilnius. For the last decade, Aivaras has been composing music exlusevily for audiovisual projects (with poet and playwright G. Labanauskaite, video artist V. Malcius), theatre, and a prominent Lithuanian audiovisual poetry band Avaspo. This experience has helped to shape his perception of music composition and sound, adding strong visual qualities to it. Before mmpsuf was born, Egle has been playing as a solo artist song-writer in more acoustic-jazz-folk context. In 2008 she gathered a jazz band (together with N. Bakula, S. Petreikis, M. Perepelica, D. Vastakaite). In 2010 Egle released a few works with music project Dykumos (together with Domas Strupinskas, Paulius Adomenas). At the moment she is also writing music for films, theater and dance performances. mmpsuf also collaborates with some talented local musicians and artists. Album recording and mastering as well as some drums parts were made by Pranas Gudaitis. During live sets mmpsuf works with well known profesional sound-engineer Alius Bareckas, who helps to fullfill all the creative sound ideas. Album video (for the song Human-un-kind) and album artworks were made by video artist Virginijus Malcius. mmpsuf is happy to go on, catch further ears and eyes, and play.
