Enchanting, full of talent, both from Zarni as well as with the performers she had a long side her. I always enjoy the stories she includes. I will see her perform anytime.

About Zarni

Recently signed to SNG Music Publishing in Nashville, Tennessee as a full-time writer, Zarni has been writing, touring and working in the music industry for over 10 years.

Her last release, the EP "Honest Company", Charted and streamed on Radio Stations across the US. Charting at #20 of the Top 30 Pop Chart for Radio KLPI and #26 of the Top 30 Pop Chart for Radio WRIR in VA.

"A slightly, harder edged Sara Bareilles, De Vette showed the audience her fiery, flirtatious side, her emotional, heavy-hearted side, and finally her poppy, romantic personality all in one evening. A beautiful woman and an even more beautiful performer, this songwriter is sure to turn heads in the professional songwriting community.”
-Zach Baldwin (The BIRN)

Immigrating to the US with her parents at age 10 from South Africa, Zarni started taking piano lessons at age 6 and voice lessons at 11. When she turned 16 her mom said that she would buy her a keyboard to gig with, as long as Zarni could learn enough songs to play for 3 hours. Several weeks later, she had a 3 ring binder filled with lyrics for enough cover songs to play her first gig at a local restaurant in the small town of Johnson City, New York. One gig turned into years of playing at this local joint, The Blind Tiger, and slowly but surely building a group of supporters. Her first meaningful mentor, John Majhor was the booking agent and manager at The Blind Tiger and Zarni attributes her diverse repertoire at that age as well as her ability to read the room, and her desire to always keep improving, to John who passed away in 2007 after a battle with cancer. John once told Zarni "you're really good for being so young and it makes it so impressive to people...but remember...you won't always be 16". He also said about Zarni:

“In 32 years of the radio business, I have rarely heard a singer/songwriter with so much talent. Her music comes from her heart and a place beyond her years. Zarni is an original.”
-John Majhor (Canadian Radio Broadcaster)

In 2007 she attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, receiving a Dual Major in Songwriting and Music Education. In her last semester, Zarni was selected to play for John Mayer with twelve other selected students. It was at this workshop that Mayer was quoted saying "I just want to hear it again" about Zarni's song Evaporated. A few weeks later she received the Scott Benson Award- The Highest Honor for Songwriting awarded by the Institution.

Her piano driven pop songs have been featured on NewsChannel34, WSKG TV, The Signal, The Steve Katsos show, Giada at Home (Food Network) Spike TV and she has shared the stage with The Presidents of the United States of America, Mary Lambert (of Mackelmore), Anberlin, Stars in Stereo and Nikolas Metaxas.
Zarni was also a member of The Weather (formerly Campfire OK) playing keys and singing background harmonies in the band.
