About D. Edward

Growing up in Oakland California, Singer, Songwriter and Multi-Instrumentalist D. Edward began his musical journey growing up in an eclectic musical household, influenced by what his parents and older brothers were listening to on the radio and on records. These influences included old school R&B/Funk, Soul, Pop, Hip Hop, Country, Latin and African music, as well as crooners like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. In April 2016, he won the Indie Music Channel Award for Best R&B Producer and was nominated for a 2015 Hollywood Music in Media Award, Oakland Indie Award and contributed to a Latin Grammy nominated album and he also won the 2014 Oaktown Indie Mayhem People's Choice Award. He performs his music in solo singer songwriter sets, just him and a keyboard, to a full on 8 piece band with horns. He’s performed at Slim's San Francisco CA, Club Fox Redwood City CA, Room 5 Los Angeles CA, Kulak's North Hollywood CA, South By Southwest (SXSW) Austin TX, the Soiled Dove Underground Denver CO, the ULUV Music Festival San Francisco CA, Ashkenaz Berkeley CA, Oakland Mayhem Festival (Headliner), The Legionnaire, Awaken Café Oakland CA, Neck of the Woods & 50 Mason Social House San Francisco CA among others. He got his start as a professional musician in the San Francisco Acid Jazz scene in the mid 1990's. Performing in clubs almost every night, performing on local TV and radio and appearing on and producing several albums. His first solo album, Little Red Box, gained radio airplay around the USA. His song Truly broke the Top 20 of the FMQB Adult Contemporary Chart. He’s a ReverbNation “Featured Artist” and his music can be heard on Pandora, iHeart, Apple Music and Spotify radio among others. His current album, "Love Is", features Grammy Award Winning Pianist Laura Sullivan along with Trumpet player Steffen Kuehn, Saxophonist Tony Peebles from 2013 Grammy Winning band Pacific Mambo Orchestra and Billboard Music Award Winner, Leah Tysse. Love Is was two years in the making. It features catchy hooks and grooves with a familiar yet unique modern pop and retro soul sound. He has the ability to sound different on different songs yet keep his own style. The first single/music video and title track from the album, premiered on Magic Johnson's Aspire TV Network and his second single/music video, "Show Me", was added to MTV.com, CMT.com and SonicCentric TV on Roku. He’s a Board member of the Keep Music Rockin’ Foundation and the Balanced Breakfast local music meet ups. He is also a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Science (NARAS)(The Grammys) and a member of the San Francisco Chapter Advocacy Committee, American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) The Official FB page of Award Winning Pop/Soul Singer, Songwriter, Multi instrumentalist, D.
