About Forrest Brown

Forrest Brown's debut album titled There Are No Unsacred Places is scheduled to release on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Google Play, and more by September 8, 2014. Physical copies of the album are available through Bandcamp in addition to merch tables at any of Forrest's shows. There Are No Unsacred Places is a five-song EP of acoustic instrumental music that Forrest composed from the fall of 2013 and into the beginning of 2014. Recording began in January, and by the end of April the songs were done being mixed and mastered. Each song on the EP takes inspiration from a different place or from Forrest's girlfriend, but the main inspiration for this album came from Forrest moving to Nashville, Tennessee to start school at Belmont University as a music business major. Meeting new people, visiting new places, and having new experiences all factored into the songwriting process on each song, and each song was written with musical imagery in mind. Originally from a small town north of Atlanta, Georgia, Forrest Brown began playing music at an early age. When he was eight years old he started taking piano lessons, but he didn't start picking up guitar until he was about twelve. Forrest took music lessons at a local music store and played in various alternative rock bands throughout middle and high school, often playing acoustic sets with a vocalist at local coffee and ice cream shops over summer breaks. The last couple years of high school saw Forrest experimenting with different approaches to writing instrumental music, but it wasn't until he moved to Nashville that Forrest found a concrete direction for his songwriting. Beginning in the fall of 2013, Forrest started experimenting with fingerstyle playing in open and altered tunings. The various tunings Forrest utilizes in his songs allow him to play the more prominent elements of a song on a single instrument at one time (e.g., rhythm, melody, harmony, and sometimes percussion). As Forrest began to write more, he finally made the decision to record an EP, which he funded through an Indiegogo campaign and produced independently. After reaching his fundraising goal of $2,000 and finishing work on the album, Forrest set out to play as many shows as possible over the summer before returning to Nashville in the fall. Since May, Forrest has played nine show dates at such reputable venues as The Crimson Moon Cafe in Dahlonega, GA, Eddie Owens Presents at the Red Clay Theater in Duluth, GA, and at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA. Forrest hopes to continue playing shows in Nashville this fall. There Are No Unsacred Places will release on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, Bandcamp, and other distribution sites on September 8, 2014. Solo guitarist from Nashville, TN.
