Joe Nichols

Joe Nichols was amazing, and his band equally so. Just a beautiful evening of music. As good as any country music I’ve ever heard. Hautespot, however, may be the worst venue I’ve ever attended. We had the best, most expensive seating offered. I tried to research the venue ahead of time and it never was clear to me how it worked so we just gambled. We were supposed to be at a high top table off to the side of center. What is not clear is the entire center section is full of people standing. Not only was the table a low, plastic patio table (meaning we were seated kind of like in a hole) so could not see the band at all other than the extraordinarily talented lead guitar player and Joe Nichols when he walked to the side. It was still a great evening, carried by the fabulous music

My friends and I loved the show! He played so many of his great songs. It was cool to hear his earlier music too. I hadn’t heard them in a while. I also enjoyed when he played a tribute to his friend Toby. Joe sounded great belting out “Should’ve Been A Cowboy”! We loved his sense of humor, and that he introduced his band. I wish more artists would do that.

Joe put on a good show again. He always mixes it up to appeal to all in attendance. I like the traditional country songs and sound. He played a few older tunes that you'd probably never hear except at one of his concerts. Footlights? Wow! Sounded great. Thanks Joe.

Joe put on the BEST show!!! He did not disappoint at all and took me back to the very first time I saw him in concert. He hasn’t changed at all and I would pay to see him over and over again. Even with him not feeling at 100% he was flawless ♥️

The show was awesome. Joe is an excellent showman. His band was spot on. His lead guitarist had a perfect mix of country, rock and blues in his repertoire. I'm not a country fan, but Joe's music is so relevant, touching and entertaining that I am a big fan. I plan on seeing him any time he comes to Utah. Thanks to Joe and his crew. You're the best.

Great Concert and Well Done to Canyon County Fair for having such a good lineup of Entertainment did miss a few of the food trucks that have been there in the past especially the one that had Shimp cups but over all Great Time and a shout out to all the hard working people that kept the trash cans cleaned and emptied 👏👏

Great show. All of the singers were very professional and there was ample parking and plenty of great places and room to pull up your chair and see it all. Mr. Nichols put on a great show as always. And the Boytek girl was very awesome in her show. I would love to join all their fan mails. Hope to see them all again. It would be great to have them all together again. Very highly recommend this outing. Hope to attend again next time or next year. Many thanks to all who helped put this agenda together.

Joe Nichols: 7/4/23 “It was my 2nd time seeing CMA Award winning Country music artist Joe Nichols LIVE, both times since I’ve relocated to South Carolina both free outdoor shows. The former on Labor Day as part of Celebrate Anderson, this time Independence Day as part of Easley’s 4th Of July Celebration. With ten studio albums yielding 22 charted singles including 5 number ones the evening was assured to go off with a bang (and it did). It was a sultry Tuesday evening on Old Market Square, humid, with the threat of storms in the air. The amphitheater was already full for the the opener Joe Lasher who took the stage at 5:30 p.m. and played for over an hour in the scorching sun. The Weaverville North Carolina native’s set ended with an announcement from stage that radar indicated storms were rolling in and to seek shelter immediately commencing what was supposed to be a half hour wait. Nichols was slated to hit the stage at 7:30 p.m., his instruments and gear already set up and covered in the background. At 8:30 as the storm lingered with some brightening and a rainbow spotted in the eastern sky an announcement was made that the show would indeed go on. At 9:30 it was decided that Nichols would play his set after the 10 p.m. fireworks, the stalwart fans reacting in a unanimous cheer that the Mayor had lifted the curfew for it all to take place. The stage was set with the band members positioned on stage waiting for the last firework to end with a cup of coffee and a can of ‘Bang’ positioned at the headliners microphone stand (two obvious must haves for Joe at this hour of the evening). At long last, precisely 10:19 p.m., Rogers Arkansas native Joseph Edward Nichols 46 took the stage for a fifty-five minute / 13 song performance beginning with his 2004 #4 hit ‘What’s A Guy Gotta Do (to get a girl in this town)’. Transitioning into the 2022 single ‘Good Day For Living’ Nichols commented, Thank y’all for a big old hit on the radio, I can’t believe it’s been a few years since I had one of those so a thanks again for that man.’ The crowd up front was rowdy and vocal interacting with Joe throughout the performance as he played with only one ear monitor letting the other dangle to foster the engagement. ‘I’ll tell you what. I’m gonna go back and play my very first single way back in the 2000’s it’s been a couple years.’ Someone shouted out ’Two Thousand And One’, Joe immediately corrected him, ‘Two Thousand And Two, it’s also number one thanks to y’all, it’s called “The Impossible” sing it with me will you?’ In addition were the hits, #1 ‘Yeah’ and #1 ‘Brokenheartsville’ just prior to the evening taking a turn in a more traditional direction. Nichols introduced a yet uncharted single from the new album ‘Brokenhearted’ describing the song, ‘It’s just straight out complaining, it’s about three minutes of complaining. It’s talking about the current state of country music, you just don’t hear a lot of broken heart feel on the radio anymore you know what I mean?’ The song sung in his unique personalized-countrified hitch went over extremely well with the crowd. Let’s hope the radio will be mindful, take note, and keep him going on a streak. ‘If you got a cigarette lighter or a cell phone, take em out of your pocket. Hold your beers up, hold your babies up (i.e. sway your hands up in the air)’ was his intro to ‘She Only Smokes When She Drinks’. Then there were the covers, Haggard, Whitley, and Hank Jr. respectively. With a ‘We got any Haggard fans out here? This is my dad’s favorite Merle song.’ he broke into a version of the obscure ‘Footlights’ off the Haggard/Jones album. ‘When You Say Nothing At All’ and ‘A Country Boy Can Survive’ rounded out that trio of selections. ‘It turned out to be a good night tonight. I bet we can make it sunny and seventy-five out here tonight.’ Mid song ‘Sunny And 75’ he jumped down from the stage traveling back and forth between the barrier and the front of the stage making his way left and right shaking hands and letting folk touch and strum his guitar. Being up front and pressed against the barrier the DAve Show was able to do both! With Nichols below I noted a roadie loading up his microphone stand with guitar picks and I knew what was coming next. He leaped back on stage and began tossing out the picks. With folks in catch and grab mode, I slid one over stealthily with my foot and covered up until the end of the show as folks foraged for any unclaimed freight that had gone missing with their cell phone flashlights. It was at that point, I was so glad that I had rode out the storm. Nichols ended the set with the rousing (well you guessed it) 2005’s #1 ‘Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off’. Closing things out in a sing-a-long he expressed his gratitude, ‘Thank you so much you guys for standing out in the rain all day. You guys are troopers, God bless y’all. I’m glad we were able to get a show in. I want us all to sing that last verse together Easley South Carolina, but… I don’t want us to just sing it out here tonight, I WANT US TO FEEL IT OUT HERE TONIGHT!’ There were no band intros as Joe kept the short and sweet set hustling along all night but I did take notice of the 6 person band’s drummer. It was none other than Nashville’s own David Northrup (too many artists he’s played for to list out) keeping perfect timing on his Gretsch/Pearl/Paiste/Beier combo kit. Notably missing from the set were ‘’If Nobody Believed In You’’, Size Matters’ and ‘Another Side Of You’. Nichols began his career playing in high school gymnasiums and small clubs before taking a job as a country disc jockey. He held many jobs in Nashville, including moving furniture, installing cable systems and selling steaks door to door. It was a great night at Joe’s Live. It had been a while since Joe played in Chicago but the fans showed up. Joe and The Damn Band Randy’s definitely felt the love of the crowd and performed a heck of a set. I look forward to seeing them again very soon and hopefully back in Chicago!

Joe Nichols was awesome!!! But the venue had a lot of problems regarding poor customer service and poor communication. I will definitely be rethinking my concert experience when/if i go there to watch upcoming artist. Thank you to Joe and his team for putting on a great show, and letting me meet him in person.

We had an excellent time. First time at a venue in Temple. Thought we'd try it out. Love Joe Nichols. Thatcwas a bonus to our night. Then we got meet and greet IF we bought something. I was going to buy that stuff, regardless. Joe put on a very energetic performance. I didn't realize he was so tall.

Enjoyable. However, Cody doesn't have the best environment for an indoor concert of this type. My only comment is one of comfort. It is difficult to set on hard surface chairs for that long. I hope one day we can have a nicer venue. SO appreciate the Cutthroat making this happen though. The only way to garner interest in improvements is to have well-attended concerts!

It was a wonderful performance couldn't have been happier. I bought a picture had armband for the meet and greet afterwards. Broke my heart that I didn't get to do the meet and greet because I was in a wheelchair who brought me didn't know how much longer they would be on your feet after the hour and a half concert standing and pushing the chair so I had to leave. From what I always heard how he is in person I bet he would have been a pleasant person to meet

The Concert was awesome, The Venue is Great after the sun drops behind the building..about 6:30 pm. Got to meet and greet afterwards (Our friends are cousins to Joe). Awesome down to earth guy as he was with all his guest.

Awesome show! Joe’s voice is so smooth and sounds better than ever! What a great and nice person too! Sang for St.Judes charity, what an awesome person is that?! Love his new songs just out now! Super good to look at too!! :)

Joe Nichols put on a great show. I've enjoyed all of his shows I've been to. With what the pay was plus meet and greet, being fed and shirts was a great price 40.00 each plus the fees but still was awesone. I'd continue to see him again.

I loved it but would have been nice to get a pic I stood to watch the concert my neuropathy flared up I couldn't even walk back to our truck cuz my legs gave out and was swollen I had to have a ride on the cart to our truck

It was really laidback and full of same amazing songs that everyone knew and some pretty dang good new songs as well. I love how he is pretty straight up and tells us how still prefers the real country but the new stuff is still good. Thank you very Mr Nichols for an amazing show and for showing us you're still able to be just you and not like a really rich and famous singer. Thanks for keeping it simple and real. definitely an amazing show.

Joe was fantastic as always but Hodag sucked. Drunks falling all over and being obnoxiously loud, the sound system kept fading in and out and you couldn't hear half the time, and whoever was attempting to use the camera for the jumbo screen did not know what he was doing. Will not be going to that venue again.
