About Flabbercasters
Baltimore’s wizarding band, Flabbercasters are serious about not taking themselves seriously. Modeling their sound after Diarrhea Planet’s “Ghost with a Boner,” they make easy pop songs with catchy riffs and simple lyrics. Formed in 2015, the original line up was Ryan Gabriel on drums and vocals, Nick Overfelt on bass, and Jason Iden on guitar. Brothers James and Joe Wolfe, guitarist and bassist, joined the entrancing trio in 2016 and now all members sing and contribute to the songwriting process. Flabbercasters released their first EP, a five track entitled LARPING, in January 2016. Four of the five songs were written in a single day by the original trio. On March 4, 2016, the band achieved their ultimate dream when they opened for, and simultaneously debuted with, their idols, Diarrhea Planet. While appearing at multiple local Baltimore shows, the group received the spellbinding news that they were booked to play a show at Baltimore Soundstage with AJJ (formerly Andrew Jackson Jihad), Chris Farren, and DINERS, three groups they worshipped. The magic happened on November 3, 2016. Flabbercasters are making pop for all wizards, punks, and lovers of fun. In one word, this band is “magical,” claims Steve Goodie, the Sound Engineer and host at The Bluebird Café in Nashville, TN. Tunes you can LARP to. Touring the world since 2015.
