About Greg Robbins Music
Originally from Atlanta, GA, Vocalist & Songwriter Greg Robbins has a distinctive musical voice, summarized primarily by a rich tone and an exceptional storytelling ability. Though his choice of musical textures have developed and changed course over time, these two qualities above all else have been the primary focus of his career, and have helped him create his own unique sound deriving from various influences such as Gregory Porter, Johnny Cash, Joe Williams, and Bob Dylan.
Greg was trained formally in Vocal Performance at Berry College in Rome, GA. He went on to receive a robust vocal and compositional training on the Atlanta jazz scene from mentors Kermit Walker, Kevin Bales, Delbert Felix, and many more. After going full time for a few years and releasing his first album "On Your Way" in 2018, he then moved to NYC. There he learned from legendary artists such as Sachal Vasandani, Johnny O’Neal, and Marc Cary, while performing at venues regularly throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.
During the Pandemic, Greg moved from Brooklyn to Nashville and then to Tulsa, where he has studied outlaw country, folk music, and other forms of roots music, writing and preparing for his Sophomore album, which is set to be recorded in late 2022. He also recorded his EP "The Atlanta Sessions, Vol 1", a "jam session" of four jazz standards recorded with his Atlanta musical family/heroes Delbert Felix (bass), Louis Heriveaux (piano), and Larry Wilson (drums), which will be released early March 2022. He continues to perform regularly throughout the US at acclaimed performance venues such as Rockwood Music Hall in NYC, The Velvet Note and Saint James, Live! in Atlanta, GA, and Rudy's Jazz Room in Nashville, among others.
