Finally, the D-bags have come to Facebook.

Welcome to the Facebook page of PA's Step 13.
Playing live since July 29, 1999 and having roots way deeper.

In the days before the 'net really took off and you had to get in the van, Step 13 started playing.
Embarrassing themselves and other bands, the group fashioned a noise. As their musical prowess grew, so did their ability to discern between right and wrong. Soon, they purchased tuners and began to get paid.
Originally comprised of drummer Capt. Kirk, bassist Ruckus and FU on guitar/vox, their lead singer Biligula joined in the summer of 2000.For the next two years, they played up and down the east coast and into the midwest. In 2002, they recorded their first EP, "Help Yourself". Guitarist Jared Schulberger (ex-Wineskin) would join the band for a busy year departing with OG drummer Capt. Kirk in November 2003. Within a month the band added Keith Pudliner and Russ Mozol(ex-Franklin) and on drums and guitar(2004). They recorded 2004's full length CD "It's Not That We're Lazy" and continued to play anywhere they could.. The singles "Intro Song" , "Safehouse" and "The Force" were also featured on several compilations.
In 2005, Russ Money, solidified the drum chair for 4 years until his departure in 2009. The band wrote an entire album's worth of material that was culled down to the "We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat" EP, which included the single "Jimmy Ate NJ". In spring 2009, The band returned to the stage with drummer Steve Seagraves, but his stay was not be permanent.

The band rehearsed briefly with ex-Cirium drummer Chris Volpe, but plans for shows that fall were scrapped. When founding member and brother Ruckus von Somma announced his departure in Feb. 2010 Step 13 went on hiatus.

In 2012, Biligula and FU began playing open mics around the Lehigh Valley. They secured a weekly spot at the Eagle, playing some covers, jamming and performing a couple of Step 13 standards. They soon cajoled highly sought after drummer Joe Manson/Covell (Red Hill Ramblers, 58 Fury, Apocryfiend) on drums and his lifelong friend Stephen Holiday on bass. The awesome new lineup would appear 7 times in 12 days, recording the new, live song "Negotiate" before Stephen returned to college. This flurry of activity had reanimated the band in a big way and they searched for a full time four stringer.

In late 2012, Apocryfiend Bassist Lance Cortis would join the band for a 15 month run before leaving in 2013. After trying out several candidates for the bass spot, Erik Hartz was chosen and the band would finish 2014 playing shows.

2015 started with the band on a working hiatus. After a few months of rehearsal, the band hit the road again, after slowly crafting a whole new set. The band would begin to take on a heavier edge while still keeping the melody.

For the next year plus, the band would play a series of shows and introduce their Step 13 13 Steps to Relapse Variety Show, a periodic "podcast" launched in summer of 2015. The show covers the hi-jinks, shenanigans, and tomfoolery of the band as well as showcasing other bands and personalities on the scene. The shows have received well over 90,000 views on You Tube and gained increased exposure, worldwide. The band would also record a six song EP "Did You See the Size of That Chicken?" during the summer of 2016.
In October of 2016, the band added Bassist Luke Herpel to mix after his stint with Valley peers Twin 55.

In August 2017, Joe Covell's five year run with Step 13 ended amicably as Casey George joined the group as the new drummer. New songs as have been written and the band is playing as hard as ever. A full length album is currently in the works for Spring 2019.
