Kai Welch

Kai Welch was born into a tribe of semi-nomadic, back-to-the-land-hippie homesteaders in Eastern Oregon in 1980. A lifelong musician, he was a classical pianist and a wayfaring liberal arts grad before taking up songwriting in earnest in 2006. His early years were spent in the woods, and in some ways he never left - he remains committed to wilderness as a part of American and human life and aims to bring music and wilderness together in a series of concerts in wild places, promoting conservation and protection. He now writes, composes, produces, and tours worldwide from his home base in Nashville, TN. He has worked and recorded with a long list of artists, including Abigail Washburn, Bobby Bare Jr, Laura Veirs, and Kacey Musgraves - and his own music reflects influences that range from american roots music to synth-pop to 70's a.m. rock. He has released one solo record, entitled “Send It Down”, and one EP, called "Perpetually Out Of Fashion".
