SAINT RAPHAËL

South African born rapper Saint Raphael adapted his name from the patron saint of healing, Saint Raphael the Archangel. Born Shayur Andhee in Durban, South Africa, his calling card is the philosophy of duality in all of his music. Combining old school boom-bap flows and lush sonics of modern trap music, Saint manages to bridge the gap between old and new school hip hop listeners. Often caught between two worlds his whole life, Saint studied and graduated to become a doctor faced with societal pressures, while at the same time pursuing his true passion in the form of music. Often, this recurrent theme of duality is reflected throughout both his personal and music career. Balancing the good with the evil, light with the dark and education with creativity.

Saint speaks for individuals who have had to balance these opposites and try to reconcile them in an effort to find themselves and their own respective truth.
