Part Bird

Part Bird is anxiety as a band. Their songs cover many subjects, but always through the raw and uneasy lens of anxiety. "Oldfield," the band's debut album, is no exception. It deals mainly with the idea of "home," the first half of the album being about finding one's home in another person, the second half analyzing the time-altered perception of one's childhood home. However, there's an atmosphere of loneliness throughout, from the yelled vocals and intentionally unsettling lyrics, to the haunting and erratic instrumentation. These themes of home and anxiety are also present in Part Bird's live shows. The members are passionate and emotional on stage, creating a cathartic experience for themselves and the audience. The band acts as a form of therapy, telling the listener, "it's okay if you feel shaky and paranoid and uncomfortable; we do too." Part Bird is currently based out of Louisville, KY, but they also have strong connections to Lexington and Eastern Kentucky. Oldfield is now available on iTunes, Spotify, and Bandcamp.
