About Pat Simmons Jr.

A cancer survivor, a local organic food/plant enthusiast, and lover of indigenous ways of living sustainably, Pat Simmons Jr. is first and foremost, a Maui boy. Pat was raised on the second largest Hawai'ian island, and there, developed a strong love of nature, and the simple ways of island life. He grew up close to the ocean and the mountain environment, and this comes across strongly in his lyrics and melodies. His music is inspired by a passion for simple, natural living, based on Permaculture principles, which he does his best to exemplify on the family's country homestead, where he grows food, hikes, surfs and spends as much time as he can, enjoying and learning in nature. Pat plays many different musical instruments, including Djembe, Didgeridoo, wooden and steel flute, but mostly plays guitar, and the very first instrument he learned to play, the Ukuele. He has had the unique experience of growing up on tour with his father's band The Doobie Brothers, and has either shared the stage with, or opened up for, many artists including The Wailers, Boz Scaggs, Chicago, Willie Nelson, Jack Johnson, Dave Mason, Buddy Guy, The Turtles, Little Feat, Kenny Loggins, Los Lobos, War, Tower of Power, Xavier Rudd, and of course The Doobie Brothers, among others. After opening shows for The Doobie's April 2014 tour in Australia and New Zealand, Pat has been home writing songs in preparation for his first album which is in the process of being recorded this Summer. Pat Simmons Jr. is a multi-instrumentalist from Maui. His music is inspired by a passion for activism & organic living. Surf, hike, garden, give thanks!!!!
