About Hospital Food

Started in mid 2009 by Nathan , Scoffa and Ben. It took a couple of months to get a drummer, Russ. We did our first 8 track demo that got us our first gig, supporting Abrasive Wheels in Harrogate, that was October 09. by Jan we did a great gig in Derby with Peter and the Test Tube Babies. By the end of January we did a gig with Red Alert, we played awful and Scoffa asked Russ to leave the band, enter Kev . He had played with alot of great bands, so we were up and running fast. We did another demo ,it was alot better than first one after our 3rd gig. We had a few gigs lined up and then Ben got a phone call from scoffa saying he was on a bus moving to Brighton and leaving the band for good, so start again with a new singer, enter Ryan. We did about 18 months with this line up, even recorded what we though would be an album, but as soon as it was done, bang Ryan was no longer in the band. This was November 2011. We had a meeting to decide if that was it with the band, we all said we enjoyed the band so we needed to get another singer. We started rehearsing with a great mate called Mark, but we had a gig in Stoke and it was too soon he hasn't had enough time to learn the songs, so we all said we could do it as a 3 piece ,as it was only a one off. We played to about 15 people, but it was good, even a couple of people said stay as we were, as a 3 piece, with Nathan and Ben sharing the lead and backing vocals, but we wanted to be a 4 piece, so carried on rehearsing as a 4 piece. out of blue we got a gig with 999. There was no way we could turn it down so played again as a 3 piece, and it was great. Too many people who knew us said best we had sounded, so we decided that's how the band would stay, plenty of gigs some great ones, but plenty of playing to no one too, but all fun, every bit of money we got we saved to do the album, we recorded it and put it out ourselves in march 2013. We did some great gigs got to September and time for a change again, Kev, who had put his other band back together had a fall out with Ben so was asked to leave, the album was good, we also put out a 10 track demo album, and had some great gigs lined up, Nathan plays in a local cover band, so he asked the drummer if he could cover the gigs. He promised him no money bottom of bill, so he sold it well, the gigs were great, he was asked to join the band, so back to a 3 piece. So in 5 years a few demos one album some t-shirts, played with some great bands, some well known, some not, played to loads of empty pubs but some busy ones too made loads of great friends We have been slagged off by people who don't know us, but those who know us well, know were good, honest people. So here's to 2014 and beyond, let's see where it goes..................
