Austin Piazzolla Quintet

"One of the foremost tango ensembles in the country," according to Denver's premier jazz club Dazzle Jazz, APQ has been stunning audiences in Austin and beyond since 2009. Featuring some of the finest talent on the Austin music scene today, APQ specializes in the intense and passionate compositions of the late Astor Piazzolla. In addition to Piazzolla's compositions, APQ continues in the Nuevo Tango tradition with unique arrangements of Piazzolla's classic works, talented improvisations, and breathtaking original compositions. APQ released it's first album, "Libertango," to sold out audiences in Austin and San Antonio in summer of 2010. "Libertango" has since been called "sublime," "Tango at it's best," and "genius ... a tango masterpiece" by reviewers such as the Austin Chronicle and Jupiter online. APQ has been featured at nightclubs, concert halls, dance halls, radio stations, and festivals. Recent tours include a sold out performance at Denver's Dazzle jazz and multiple performances at the 2012 Houston International Festival where the group was listed as the "No. 1 Not to Be Missed" group.
