About The Muteflutes

The Muteflutes are a lyrically driven indie folk band from Grand Rapids, MI. Their unique sound is created by a combination of guitars, piano, synthesizers, drums, banjo, bass, vibraphone, accordion and bells woven together with seamless vocal harmonies. Sharing life together on and off the stage, lead singer and songwriter Micah McLaughlin pens the essence of the band with stories of life, relationships, and the divine. Live, the band crafts dynamic musical experiences that range from intimate acoustic folk to soaring post-rock compositions. They all live, work, and love their hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The band released their first album, The Ballad of the Rebel Grape, in 2010 and most recently released American Dream, on May 10 of 2014 Their first studio album, The Ballad of the Rebel Grape, was released in January 2012. The Muteflutes are an eclectic group of musicians who found each other in random corners of Grand Rapids. Living in community and sharing songs together, the Muteflutes have been creating this original singer-songwriter folk sound since 2010. Micah McLaughlin sings the most and plays the acoustic guitar, harmonica, and ukulele. Aaron Wildey sings a lot too, plays an acoustic guitar, banjo, and when he gets his way, an electric guitar as well. Adam Thompson prefers not to sing, but plays acoustic and electric bass, bells, percussion, and vibraphone. If Levi Gardner sings, it gets drowned out by his drum beats and synthesizer magic. Marie Dornan sings a bunch, plays the piano, and has been seen shouldering an accordion. The Muteflutes live, work, and love their hometown, Grand Rapids, MI. This is where we raise our kids and write these songs. Home, sweet, Michigan. Lyrics-driven indie folk rock from Grand Rapids, MI www.muteflutes.com
