About Pegasus
PEGASUS - «LOVE & GUNFIRE»
2012: SUCCESS
The album «Human.Technology» goes platinum, the tour is a sell-out success, and the No. 1 hit «Skyline» wins PEGASUS the Swiss Music Award 2012 for Best Hit National.
«Our last album had been in the charts for just under a year when we played an open air gig on the Bundesplatz in Berne. When we heard 15,000 people singing along to our songs, we knew we had arrived. We had worked long and hard to get to this place.» - Noah Veraguth, lead vocals
2013: TURNING POINT
Shortly after all of this, Noah began to search for new ideas. He withdrew to Berlin where, inspired by the flair of the big city, he began working on new songs. He devoted himself to the age-old conflict between love and hate, drives and morals, intuition and passion. His time in Berlin was a key experience: it changed him fundamentally because he realised that an artist must never stand still. And so he decided to throw the band's recipe for success overboard and to start pushing new musical boundaries, and the goal they thought they had just reached became both a turning point and a new beginning. It is a change that allows Veraguth to scale new artistic heights.
Electronic and acoustic elements are radically interwoven; synthetic sounds that have so far only made a cameo appearance now play a leading role in the new songs and become the expression of an artistic outlook.
2014: LOVE & GUNFIRE
His reflections on age-old human conflicts leads to the album «Love & Gunfire».
This musical new beginning makes the PEGASUS sound more complex, more modern, more mature. But despite all this, they never stray too far from the things both the band and its fans have come to rely on: skilled songwriting and creative co-operation.
«The album is the quintessence of our creativity to date.» - Simon Spahr, guitar.
What makes «Love & Gunfire» a winner are the authentic compositions and the uncompromising arrangements. It is an album that deftly plays with contrasts. The catchy melodies are underpinned by complexity and depth. The album offers a range of songs: songs to sing along to and songs that will touch your soul. The lyrics capture the Zeitgeist in simple yet poetic words, while the sound dynamically and impressively transmits the attitude to life of an entire generation.
PEGASUS has grown into an important ambassador of a young and courageous Swiss pop culture that is not afraid of progress and innovation, but instead goes out in search of them. This is what «Digital Kids», the first single from the album, is all about. The pulse of our age is the heartbeat of this powerful electro track, which became the most frequently played track on Swiss radio stations in next to no time.
«We knew that «Digital Kids» would divide opinion. But we also knew that we can't stand still and that we want to challenge both ourselves and our fans again and again.» - Gabriel Spahni, bass.
FUTURE: EUROPE
Shortly after the album's completion, the new songs were premiered at three sell-out concerts at the KKL Lucerne in late 2013. At these gigs, PEGASUS was accompanied by the 50-piece 21st Century Orchestra. Straight afterwards, they left for Berlin for the kick-off of the European tour of the British band Hurts, whom PEGASUS was supporting. The tour took both bands around Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
«The European tour was another dream come true. The audiences loved our music and we are even more convinced than ever before that there is a future for us in Europe». - Stefan Brønner, drums.
Following more concerts in Belgium, Austria, and Germany in spring 2014, the future they are aiming for seems to have arrived. Europe seems to be just within reach: the first three shows in Germany sold out. The four boys from Biel have set their sights on international success with their album «Love & Gunfire». The album, which manages to be both familiar and innovative, is the starting point for yet another goal that this personable band is capable of reaching.
-----
PEGASUS are four guys from the Swiss city of Biel. They may not even be in their mid twenties, but they've already been together as a band for about 15 years. Early successes included being the youngest ever band to win the 'Swiss Top' newcomer competition run by the radio station DRS 3 in 2008, playing support band to Coldplay at the Stade de Suisse in 2009, winning the Swiss Music Award in the category 'Best Newcomer National' in 2010, and a nomination for the IMPALA Award in 2011. All of this is proof of the band's sterling song-writing skills, their ability to thrill a discerning public, and their unmistakeable flair for great pop songs. They have continued to develop over the course of their four albums: their last album, Human.Technology, went platinum in Switzerland and spent over a year in the Swiss album charts; the platinum single 'Skyline' went right to the top of the Swiss charts and won a Swiss Music Award in the category 'Best Hit National'. Following the international release of their album Human.Technology in the spring of 2013, PEGASUS toured Europe twice: first with Hurts and then on their own. Their own tour included three sell-out club gigs. The hallmarks of their new album, Love & Gunfire, are authentic song-writing, uncompromising arrangements, and a clever play with contrasts. PEGASUS has grown into an important ambassador of a young, courageous Swiss pop culture that is not afraid of progress and innovation but actively goes out and seeks them.
