Also, producing songs for movie soundtracks including songs on the Beverly Hills Cop, Running Scared, Nutty Professor, and a host of other soundtracks.

“During the period 1985-87 there were few acts that were bigger than Ready For The World. Their Jheri curl look made them the young heartthrobs of Soul music, and their series of hit dance cuts and ballads, while not terribly original, were absolutely infectious.

READY FOR THE WORLD ascended upon the music scene in 1985 with stage presence and hit songs that helped skyrocket their career and solidified their status as bonafide international musicians, with the release of songs like “Oh Sheila,” “Love You Down” and “Digital Display.” The Flint, Michigan funk band with slight rock leanings, and new jack style parlayed sensuous vocals and trendy production into the group’s eponymous self-produced debut album, Ready For The World.
They first scored sizeable hits with the first two singles, on MCA Records, releasing ballads "Tonight" and "Deep Inside Your Love." But it was their third single from the album, the magnificent Prince-sounding electronic dance tune "Oh Sheila," that moved the group to the top of the Pop and Soul charts.
“Oh Sheila” garnered four #1 positions on Billboard’s R&B, Pop, Dance and Video charts in just one week. That year becoming the first ever single by a group to hold the #1 spot on four Billboard charts simultaneously landing the group in the Guinness Book of World Records. The song propelled the group to platinum status, generating millions in album sales, as one of the year’s biggest cross-over cuts, garnering international fame. They scored their fourth consecutive top ten R&B record with “Digital Display,” and paved their way as chart-topping musicians.
The song's manic energy, feverish bass line and focus on a long-gone lover helped drive it to
the top of the Hot 100, although its chart-topping status hasn't prevented listeners.
from mistaking it for a Prince track to this day. – Rolling Stone (circa 2016)

Today RFTW returns to their original roots performing onstage.

Ready For The World. Is ushering new talent in with new lead vocalist David Lyve and introducing alternative artist such as P.ily.

The second album entitled Long Time Coming, proved to be an equal success. The slow jam, “Love You Down,” landed them another cross-over hit, climbing to #1 on Billboard’s R&B charts, and reaching #9 on the Pop charts.

That same year the group was featured on The Beverly Hills Cop III soundtrack, as well as co-produced a song with Rod Templeton (Thriller) on the Running Scared soundtrack. Ready For The World went on to release Straight Down To Business; but ultimately decided to spend more time working creatively as music songwriters, producers, studio sound engineers and video producers.

The band is currently touring in the U.S. and abroad performing their hit songs from the 80’s When not entertaining audiences on stage, the guys spend their days in the recording studio and mentoring new talent.
