When they say music is in your blood was never truer than when applied to Innovate Records artist G.I.L. (God is Love). Born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ, G.I.L.’s father is a Salsa singer and he grew up around live shows, music festivals and recording studios. At the age of 13 he got the performing bug, but it wasn’t the pulsing, energetic rhythm of Salsa calling, but the raw, truthful sounds of the Golden Age of Hip Hop. G.I.L would join the fledgling rap group Ill Souls and his journey into music would begin.

His musical style would evolve from the early influences of the hip hop greats to a more versatile style that reflects his love for all types of music. “I would describe my style as versatile. I can adapt to whatever type of music I’m hearing. I can tackle any topic. I like to challenge myself with being creative.”

That creative versatility is evident in his upcoming first release on Innovate Records, P.SA.L.M.S. 33:3. A collection of Pure Scripture and Love Music. More than music, G.I.L describes it as “…a love story. It’s Truth. It’s the Gospel with a beat to it.” It reflects his genuine love of the Lord and joy in sharing His Word, along with an eclectic mix of praise and worship music and hard hitting and thought provoking rhymes.
Never one to be put in a box, G.I.L. is constantly challenging the boundaries of genres and labels. In an age where CHH is growing and changing, G.I.L is a breath of fresh air!

His first single, a true song of praise, “He Is Christ”, is out Nov. 1, 2017. Look out for the upcoming album, P.S.A.L.M.S. 33:3.
