About Tres Womack
– Tres Womack (Real Simple, Freak Show, & Black Motel) returns to his roots as a solo artist after fronting various Austin bands for the past twelve years. Going back to 2005, while teaching in Texas, Womack penned his first song, charted a single, performed as a solo artist, and recorded an EP (Real Simple). Two years later, his first full-length album, Freak Show stayed on Billboard’s Americana Chart for 26 weeks. The CD included the single “Gather ‘round” awarded “Song of the Year” by the Academy of Texas Music while Freak Show garnered a nod for “Album of the Year.” That same year, he teamed up with Austin talents Luke Adair and Josh Droegemueller to form the Alt-Country band Getocowboys (Hard Luck Symphony & Live at Texas Tavern). The Getocowboys maintain a solid fan-base and occasionally perform together. Womack then teamed up with local producers/writers Perry Lowe, Curtis Farley, Slim Bawb, and Rory Smith to create the Chubby Knuckle Choir (Reveille, Six, & God’s Puppy), one of Austin & Texas’ most unique and entertaining original bands. When Slim Bawb left the Choir, Adair and Droegemueller came on board to fill the void. After nine years together, Womack, Adair, and Droegemueller left CKC to pursue other opportunities. Now living in NW Colorado, Tres teamed up with brothers Tim and Drew (Sons of the Desert) to form Sum Brothers. The Womack brothers again called on Droegemueller and Adair to collaborate, record, and tour. Sum Brothers recorded "Brownwood" in four separate studios in three states and released the debut album at MusicFest in Steamboat Springs, CO. The brothers booked several dates in 2019, sharing the stage for the first time as members of the same band.
