About subaltern

Subaltern Biography
The city of Baden, in Switzerland is known for its beauty, its hot sulfur springs and as the birthplace of chemist Albert Hofmann (the discoverer of LSD), maybe soon it will also be famous as the home town of rock group, Subaltern.
The band has built a loyal following in and around the canton of Aargau and in the nearby city of Zurich. The four members (Patrick Schmid - vocals, Remo Stuchell – guitar, Marco Seeberger - bass and Daniel Enzensberger – drums), have been friends since childhood and the harmony that exists between them as friends also shines through in their music. As their fans will tell you, at Subaltern gigs you can clearly feel the warmth and joy that the guys are experiencing on stage.
Subaltern are currently recording their debut album - produced by Reto Burrell - which will be released in the summer of 2017. Their music itself can range from head on rock to more commercial melodies that wouldn't look out of place on pop radio stations. Most of their songs begin as jam sessions and then are slowly and carefully developed by perfecting the arrangements before the melody and lyrics are added. This way all members of the band play an equal part in the compositions.
The subject matter of the songs are as diverse as the music itself: for instance 'Copenhagen Sweets' is inspired by a trip to the Danish capital and how hard it was to leave after experiencing the local culture; 'Burn' is a metaphor for the anger that oppressed people feel on a daily basis; 'Fade Away' is a very original idea that says your chances of having a successful marriage are about the same as being able to record at the famous Beatles studio Abbey Road; 'Bank Job' is a semi-humorous look at the world economy collapse; '8am' is for anyone stuck in a boring meaningless job who feels powerless to change it
Subaltern's name may only be known in a small area of Switzerland, but they now feel they are ready to reach a far wider audience. With the release of their debut album a new chapter in the history of Subaltern begins.
