About The Adam Price Group

Adam Price is a Brooklyn-based jazz musician, educator, and woodwind specialist. He holds a Bachelors degree in Clarinet Performance from NYU. He plays regularly in New York City and the tri-state area both as a leader and as a sideman for various bands.
Born and raised in rural Pennsylvania, Adam grew up surrounded by music and quickly found a love for it by listening to his fatherʼs old LPs. He picked up the clarinet at an early age, and soon after added the saxophone and flute to his arsenal of instruments. He discovered jazz and started to delve into its many styles when he
entered high school.
After spending some time at Penn State University and marching with the PSU Blue Band in stadiums seating upwards of 100,000, including two Bowl Games, Adam transferred to NYU where he completed his Bachelorʼs degree in Classical Clarinet Performance. At NYU he had the opportunity to study and perform abroad in Florence, Italy. Since graduating in the spring of 2012, he has been working full time as a musician.
As a leader, Adam fronts his own straight-ahead jazz combo, the Adam Price Group, which has played numerous venues in New York City and Pennsylvania and has performed at the Berks Jazz Fest in Berks County, PA. He is also the co-founder and leader of the free improv group, the Bear Necessities Collective, which recently played the Lower East Side Music Festival in NYC.
As a sideman, Adam plays regularly with Jon Bell (with whom he has toured most of the eastern half of the United States), Barrel of Monkeys, and Jesse Bunting and his Hot Shim Sham Orchestra, among others. His recording credits include “Are we living yet?” with Jon Bell, and “Sticky Notes & Paper Scraps” and “Roots & Bells” with Town Hall.
Adam also has been influenced heavily by world and folk music and has studied many ethnic woodwinds, including the Native American Flutes, the Nandi Chivoti, and the Irish Pennywhistle. Deserving of the name “woodwind specialist,” Adam is continually exploring music and seeking ways to push the boundaries. Watching one of his shows is always an adventure and sure to surprise and delight.
