About Tin City
What would eventually evolve into Tin City began on a cool fall morning, at a school bus stop. Two dads at the bus stop, Tom Wilson and Tim Curtis, met while their kids waited for the bus, and struck up a conversation about music. Two very different musical paths crossed that day. Tom had lived the musical dream, playing drums for a rock/soul band called “100 Years Time”, a Washington DC based band that had original songs, record releases, and tours to their credit. Tim’s path took him from Ohio to Kentucky to Virginia in a series of school and career driven moves. Music was not a profession, but always a passion. Similarly, Tom’s profession changed from music to computers, but his musical passion lived on.
Tom and Tim began jamming on the weekends and were soon joined by Tom’s brother Tyjuan, a very talented musician who played guitar in “100 Years Time”.
The next key moment in the band’s evolution occurred in August 2010 at a local swimming pool. As Tim sat poolside, soaking up the sun, and reading the current issue of “Guitar Player” magazine, he caught the attention of keyboardist Bill Beach. Bill also grew up in the Midwest, playing in bands while attending college and living and working in Chicago. Bill began jamming with Tom, Tim, and Tyjuan, and soon recruited his friend, Kevin Bogucki (Bogo) to play bass. The band established a rehearsal space at Bill’s. The band progressed, building a song list into 2011. Vocalist came and went and then Bill went – to relocate his family in southern Virginia.
The remaining members of the band decided that “the show must go on”. In response, the band shifted operations back to Tim’s house, and placed an ad on Craig’s List for a vocalist. The band held auditions on April 30, 2011. That day the band met its match in Jen Pritchard, a soulful, talented vocalist who decided to pursue her passion for music. The completed lineup became “Tin City” and is now entertaining audiences with its mix of rock and blues music
