Smoke 'n Guns

Once you see Smoke ‘n Guns in action, you’ll be left with an experience you will never forget. The phrases “high energy” and “dynamic duo” hardly do these girls justice. Alecia Arnall’s blues/rock ‘n roll tone pairs magically with Lindsay Bowman’s pop/country voice. During their show, you will hear anything from Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean to Adele and Nicki Minaj. This duo definitely has something for everyone! Lindsay Bowman grew up in Seaford, Virginia later relocating to Danville, Virginia. Lindsay, who started singing at age 4, made her solo singing debut at her grandmother’s church in Danville. Growing up, Lindsay performed at many places, to include the National Anthem at Virginia International Raceway, Langley Speedway, South Boston Speedway, Martinsville Speedway and Danville Braves and Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball games. After winning a local competition in the Colgate Country Showdown, Lindsay earned a spot in the state competition in 2008, providing the opportunity to perform at the Virginia State Fair. In 2009, Lindsay was voted the winner of Kroger Idle which provided her the opportunity to perform the National Anthem before the NASCAR Truck Series Race at Martinsville Speedway in that October, which was aired nationally on the Speed Channel. That same year, Lindsay was crowned Miss Danville-Pittsylvania County. She later competed for the title of Miss Virginia, earning a spot in the top 11 semi-finals. Lindsay was able to perform her talent on live, state-wide television. In the summer of 2010, Lindsay was selected to appear on a new variety show called "Fast Track to Fame." She flew to Dallas, TX to film the show that would later air on the Speed Channel. In November 2010, local magazine "Evince" featured Lindsay in a cover story to promote her music and commend her efforts of working towards a singing career and staying busy volunteering within the community. From 2009-2011, Lindsay was part of the band Backstreet of Danville, VA. In the fall of 2011, Lindsay moved to Nashville, TN to pursue her singing career and follow her dreams. Rounding out the duo is feisty Alecia Arnall. Raised a country girl in Lake Ozark, Mo., Alecia was born into a musical family singing and learning harmonies at a young age. Her parents sang in a show called The Jerry Prunty Show, as well as local events and churches. Growing up, she sang in the honor choir, show choir, and also sang at her local church. In addition to singing, Alecia played the trumpet at her high school, and at home was learning the drums and guitar from her father. Alecia, who is also a talented songwriter started by writing poetry, then after learning how to play guitar was taught by her father how to turn her poetry into songs. After graduating high school in 2003 and still confused on where she wanted her career to go, she went to cosmetology school and graduated top of her class in 2004. While trying to figure out her musical path, she competed in many different local singing events such as the Colgate Country Showdown, and also a local singing competition called Eddies Idol. Alecia won the entire thing, taking home $3,000 which she put towards her first CD, “Songs of Emotion,” to be completed the summer of 2007 through Max Creek Recording studio. Her songs “Next Three Days” and “When You’re Not Ready,” were played on the local radio station. After holding a CD release party in her home town, she thought she was ready for the music scene. She packed up and took the long road to Nashville, TN in November of 2007. She got a job at a Sports Complex as a secretary and also as a waitress/bartender at Tootsies and Nashville Palace (at the time owned by same person). When she wasn’t working, her nights would be spent hitting downtown networking and getting a band together. After she got a band together she started playing on Broadway like every other musician trying to live a dream. Even though some people turned her down and criticized her first CD, she never stopped believing in her dream. She has now played at Tootsies, Rippy’s, Legends, The Blue Moon, Whiskey Bent, Cadillac Ranch, Music City Bar, and Nashville Palace singing covers and maturing her songwriting day by day incorporating her originals into the set list. Alecia has also had the opportunity to play with country singer/songwriter Bryan White and also work with hit songwriters such as Sam Tate, Tom Shepard, Gary Hannan, and Greg Barnhill. In 2010, she released 3 new songs produced by Pat Holt, who produced Charlie Daniels and many other artists. Her inspirations are artists like Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Martina McBride, Tanya Tucker, Michael W. Smith, Mercy Me, Bonnie Rait, Janis Joplin, Pat Benatar, and of course her father, Rick Arnall. Alecia grew up country but definitely has a blues and rock ‘n roll side to her! After relocating to Nashville in August 2011, Lindsay found herself following a very similar path as Alecia. She was networking on Broadway and on the hunt for a band. After a few short months in Music City, Lindsay met Alecia at one of her shows and the two instantly clicked. They started performing together and knew they had something special on stage. Alecia and Lindsay soon formed their duo group known as "Smoke 'n Guns." They are actively performing in downtown Nashville on Broadway at venues such as Whiskey Bent Saloon and Bootleggers Inn. In March of 2012, Lindsay was featured as a contestant on the popular game show, The Wheel of Fortune. Being on the show gave her national exposure and Pat Sajak allowed Lindsay the opportunity to talk about her band, Smoke 'n Guns. To date, the band has drawn a large following. Currently, Smoke ‘n Guns are performing Alecia’s original music during their sets, but they are continuing to write songs together to take on the road in the summer of 2012.
