Tony Tixier

Tony was born in 1986. From Martinique (french west indies), he begins three years in the percussion class of musical awakening. Tony occurs early stage, in effect five years, the theater, he plays the role of practitioners in the play "Caligula" by Albert Camus. Then he enters the theater of his father in which he played several roles until adolescence. At 6 years he returned to class at the conservatory of classical piano. Tony also begins very early and dance from his seven years he joined the Afro jazz dance company "Fusion" with which it will occur regularly on stage. it will then follow a course in music-study class timetables (CHAM) to intensive practice in music at the conservatory. There will study choral music, the classical harmony and counterpoint, the writing and composition, and piano. He obtained his DEA in 12 years of musical training (cum laude) and his 14 years of classical piano DFE in the class of Pascal Gallet. He began studying jazz with Didier Levallet then Malo Vallois, then he studied at the famous "Bill Evans Piano Academy" in Paris. Tony est né en 1986. Tony se produit précocement sur scène, en effet à 5 ans, au théâtre, il joue le rôle d'un des praticiens dans la pièce de théâtre "Caligula" d'Albert Camus. Puis il rentre dans la troupe de théâtre de son père dans laquelle il jouera plusieurs rôles jusqu'à son adolescence. A 6 ans il rentre au conservatoire en classe de piano classique. Tony commence également la danse très tôt et à partir de ses 7 ans il intègre la compagnie de danse afro jazz "Fusion" avec laquelle il se produira régulièrement sur scène. il va ensuite suivre un cursus musique-étude en classe à horaires aménagés (CHAM) afin de pratiquer intensivement la musique au conservatoire. Il y étudiera le chant choral, l'harmonie et le contrepoint classique, l'écriture et la composition, et le piano. Il obtient à 12 ans son DFE de formation musicale (mention très bien) et à 14 ans son DFE de piano classique dans la classe de Pascal GALLET. Il commence alors à étudier le Jazz avec Didier Levallet, puis Malo Vallois, il étudiera ensuite à la célèbre "Bill Evans Piano Academy" de Paris. Tony is also an arranger and musical director in the group Stephane KOCHOYAN. Dès ses 17 ans Tony va commencer des collaborations avec des musiciens de renoms. Ainsi il joue en première partie de Dee dee Bridgewater, Michel camilo, Marcus Miller, Mc Coy Tyner, Elvin Jones, Bireli lagrene, Manu di bango, Monty Alexander, Archie Shep; il s'entoure du trompettiste Nicolas GENEST dans un projet en quintet. Récemment il a été le pianiste du saxophoniste Walt WEISKOPF dans son Europeen sextet. En 2008 il rejoint le trio de Brian MELVIN ( batteur de Jaco Pastorius, Mike Stern, BeatleJazz). Tony Collabore également avec le saxophoniste très réputé Myron WALDEN et joue dans plusieurs Clubs de Jazz de New-York dans le Quintet de son frère Scott Tixier. Tony est aussi arrangeur et directeur musical dans le groupe de Stéphane KOCHOYAN. In 2007 Tony won the jazz competition "the trophies of Sunside" he received the first prize for her performance in the Scott Tixier Quintet concert broadcast on Radio France (Claude emission Jazzclub CAREER). In 2010, Tony Tixier released "Parallel Worlds", a first self-produced album in which we can already see his writing skills. En 2010, Tony Tixier sort «Parallel Worlds», un premier album autoproduit dans lequel on peut déjà remarquer ses qualités d’écriture. A la poursuite de sa quête musicale, et travailleur acharné sous des allures débonnaires, il multiplie alors les expériences musicales entre Paris et New-York, dans les lieux les plus improbables et avec des musiciens issus d’horizons divers. Récemment, il a fait une tournée en Russie et en Pologne avec Brian Melvin (batteur de Jaco Pastorius), ou encore, on a pu l’entendre en trio avec Jérôme Regard et Louis Moutin.
