About The Muldoons
The Muldoons first met in Paisley in the 90s and decided to reform in 2017 for a one-off gig that ultimately resulted in a sell-out album and a reputation for raucous live performances. In 2020 it was announced the Muldoons would sign with independent label ‘Last Night From Glasgow’ (LNFG) to release their debut album, Made For Each Other.
Made For Each Other released in July 2020, was the long-awaited debut album from The Muldoons. The album is an indie-music lover’s dream of jangly guitars, trumpets, sweet melodies and stories about growing up, getting drunk and falling in & out of love every week. Originally pressed on both Black and Red Vinyl, it sold out within weeks and is now in its second pressing. The music will excite lovers of Lou Reed, Lloyd Cole, Lawrence, The Smiths, Orange Juice and of course, the sound of Johnny Marr’s guitar.
The album met with critical acclaim and the single ‘In Love Again’ was playlisted worldwide and in the UK on national and local radio. Vic Galloway on BBC Radio Scotland described it a ‘classic sounding indie pop’and the single was BBC Music Introducing’s Single of the Week in July 2020.
The Isolation Sessions was a project created by LNFG in 2020 to raise money for local venues and artists struggling from the effects of Covid related closures. The Muldoons recorded a Stephen Solo track called ‘No Pill For What Ive Got’ which appeared on the phenomenally successful vinyl & CD double album, alongside bands such as Close Lobsters, Bis, Carla J Easton & Slime City. The album was engineered by Paul McGeechan from Love & Money. Snack Magazine described ‘No Pill’ as the ‘sunniest track on the album’.
Cath was originally released by the Bluebells in 1983 and the Muldoons released a cover version as a single in March 2021 to celebrate the re-issue of the Bluebells debut album by LNFG. The Bluebells loved the cover so much they decided to get involved and re-designed the original artwork to use for the release. The single was described as ‘thrilling’ by Bobby Bluebell and it received global and national radio airplay. When Gary Crowley played the song on BBC Radio London he described it as ‘gorgeous’.
In April 2022 the Muldoons released a storming new single called Audacity, on Last Night From Glasgow, building on their reputation as up-tempo indie optimists. The track was extensively played on BBC Radio 6 with Steve Lamaq saying the Muldoons make 'fantastically wistful pop music'...
