About Velvet Black
Formed in 2012 under the alias "Blue Daven's Code", the boys from Velvet Black met in a bar and immediately hit it off. After touring a small portion of the U.S. and Canada, as well as a line-up change consisting of a trio rather than a quartet, and a new self titled EP, the band had a brief stint with Los Angeles based Native Alien Records.
Considering the members' french heritage, the band came up with the name Black Velvet, but switched the words in the french-language order (velour noir), Thus "Velvet Black".
After touring much of the U.S. and the entirety of Canada supporting many bands and promoting their EP, the band came home to its native city of Quebec, Canada, and stayed independent through the writing of their first full-length album. The first single "Everything is Alright" reached top-10 on the BDS radio charts, and released the album "Orleans" under Vega Musique/L'appel du Large in 2016.
The band has promoted the album the remainder of 2016 and the entirety of 2017 on tour, mostly in their hometown province of Quebec. Now in the process of writing their second album, the band has gone independent once again, and a new single is to be released shortly.
Velvet Black have performed at notable venues such as:
-The Cleveland Ballroom

-Festival d'ete de Quebec
-Festivent de Levis
-Halifax Urban Folk Festival
-Canadian Music Week
The band has also opened for:
