About Jason Broussard

Jason Broussard has been playing drums for 25 years. At the age of 12 he began playing gospel music in the church his mother attended, and his high school years were spent playing in his school’s show choir, during which time he gained exposure to jazz standards and pop hits of the 50’s and 60’s. These experiences allowed Jason to develop his impeccable ear and broaden his musical horizons.

Nearing graduation, Jason took an interest in heavier rock music, especially compositions with progressive elements and odd-time arrangements. He has since melded the variety of these influences into a creative percussive approach that focuses on groove, timing, feel and dynamics.

Since 2002 Jason spent nine years writing and recording with CETERUM, an alternative-progressive rock group which allowed the freedom to experiment with polyrhythms and non-traditional rhythmic structures. Also during that time, he contributed his versatile drumming abilities to ex-Faith No More frontman Chuck Mosley & VUA, hip hop duo The WrongGuys, and Australian pop songwriter Aiden Schofield. Most recently, Jason has backed Texas country heavyweight Roger Creager and Texas Regional Radio Report's 2013 New Male Vocalist of the Year Josh Ward. He has also performed with chart-topping Texas country artist John Slaughter and country music star Tracy Byrd. Jason has recorded drums for the forthcoming debut album "A Moment To Liberate" from OP•AQ•UE, and he has continued to develop a new original heavy rock project called Tranzhumanist.

Jason’s rhythmic proficiency is evident; whether laying down a straight, smooth funk groove or navigating through odd-time, progressive phrases, he brings a fluidity to the kit that exhibits confidence and control. No matter the genre, Jason incorporates driving, yet dynamic textures into his playing that brilliantly convey the natural emotion within the music.
