About Tamalpais Brass

Tamalpais Brass sounds like the beautiful mountain in Marin that is our namesake: wondrous and enticing, elusive but calming, grounding and soaring. We are a brass quintet that pushes the limits of our abilities, and we like to bring our audiences along for the ride. Since our founding in 2011, we have kept focused on our goal of always presenting the best brass music we can find.

Performance History

Their debut concert in May 2012 featured the pioneering quintets of Malcolm Arnold and Alec Wilder, Faure's haunting "Pavane", and an inimitable arrangement of "Africa", the 1982 chart-topper by Toto.

In December 2013 Tamalpais Brass performed as a featured artist in St. Mary's Candlelight Concert Series, presenting music by Morley Calvert, Viktor Ewald, and Bjork.

In February 2014, Tamalpais Brass continued their tradition of presenting eclectic compositions by premiering Kevin Boursiquot's "Urban Landscapes" as part of Classical Revolution's Monday Night Series at San Francisco's Revolution Cafe.

In March of 2014, Tamalpais was a "Switchboard Presents" featured artist at, performing Blackbird Variations by Robert Dennis at the Center for New Music in San Francisco.

Tamalpais Brass will perform next on September 22,2018 at the Hillside Community Church in El Cerrito, and has performed as part of St. Mary's Candlelight Concert Series in San Francisco (2018, 2017, 2013, 2012), the Covenant Concert Series in Palo Alto (2018), and as a featured artist with the Fremont Symphony for their annual "Holiday Sparkler" (2017).
