Taught By Heroes

Seeking excellence is the main focus of Taught By Heroes, a top rising Americana style band from the South Carolina Upstate. Their most recent accomplishment is the recording of their first 4 song EP, soon to be released on all major music download platforms. Taught By Heroes is comprised of Jeremy Brewer (Guitar & Vocals); JT Sayres (Guitar & Lead Vocals); Chad Dawson (Bass); Stephen Dawson (Drums & Percussion); Tim C Collins (Keys, Percussion, & Vocals). Taught By Heroes finds pride in the ability to work naturally with one another, as well as the other individuals that have helped them rise to a status higher than they expected. Cliff Witherspoon (Owner and operator of Red Arrow Entertainment) elaborates on their recording experience stating, “The band did an excellent job in the studio while we were putting this together, and the final product speaks for itself.” At the end of 2015, after being stifled in other musical projects, JT Sayres, Tim C Collins, and Chad Dawson locked themselves away in Little Spark Studios, owned by Don Fairbanks, to approach composing in a new way. Little Spark Studios is a small bungalow tucked away in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Hendersonville, NC. It was the perfect place and time for JT, Tim, and Chad to find spending 5 days with only a few sets of lyrics, core melodies, and the idea that there are no wrong ideas, only uncharted musical territory to be refreshing and eye opening. In addition, they also found how to openly and honestly work together in search for excellence. Having already established a solid connection, JT, Tim, and Chad sought the expertise of Jeremy Brewer and Stephen Dawson in early 2016. Thus, Taught By Heroes was born. Within months, they were performing opening acts with the likes of “Further To Fly” and American Idol winner “Caleb Johnson.” JT continued to write riveting lyrical melodies from some of his previous life experiences. Although several songs have been written by JT, everyone in the band takes part in the writing process. Taught By Heroes challenges themselves by writing in an open style platform. Where most musicians are very territorial of their parts, the members of Taught By Heroes embrace the openness of the writing process. With over 100 years combined musical experience, they find that undivided attention to one another’s ideas is invaluable to the writing process. Taught By Heroes is looking forward to what the future beholds. They are planning a North American tour in the summer of 2017. So, stay tuned and stay inspired.
