Benny Nelson

Benny Nelson grew up on a farm in North-West New South Wales and attended Warialda Catholic Primary School (Year K-6) and Warialda High School (Year 7-11). He has been performing as a Singer/Songwriter since the age of nine, and he is a graduate of the Talent Development Project (TDP) in Sydney. Benny became a part of the TDP and the Schools Spectacular in 2010 while he was in year 9 at Warialda High, shortly after his mothers passing from breast cancer. In 2013, Benny left home at age 16 to move to Sydney where he attended Northmead Creative And Performing Arts High School (Year 12) to pursue his career as a musician. Benny performed as a Featured Artist in The Schools Spectacular 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 in the Sydney Entertainment Centre (QANTAS Credit Union Arena)which has been broadcasted across the Channel 9 Network. A highlight from the 5 years being a part of the show was performing original song, "Mother", a tribute to his mother Vivienne Nelson (1964-2010) in 2013 to crowds of up to 9000 each show for four shows and a television audience of up to 2 million. Benny was asked along with Jackson Besley to come back to The Schools Spectacular as Alumni Guest Artists and write a song with John Foreman and students for the 2015 Schools Spectacular. The Song ‘SUPERNOVA’ was recorded and released at Sony Music in Sydney in November 2015 and made #66 in the top 100 Pop Charts. Benny has performed as a backing vocalist at the 2014 and 2015 Australia Day Performance in Sydney for Jessica Mauboy, Taylor Henderson, Samantha Jade, Nathaniel, Iva Davies, Dami Im, Sheppard, Guy Sebastion, The Veronicas, James Morrison, David Cambell, John Foreman and Justice Crew. Benny has performed with country music stars such as Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Dayley, Phil Emmanuel and more. Benny Nelson performed as a full time cover Musician in clubs, pubs, parties, weddings etc. since the age of 12.

Benny was awarded with the 2013 Junior Citizen of The Year in his home-town of Warialda, NSW and has also received scholarships from The Hon. John Brown's Sports & Tourism Youth Foundation and a Talent Development scholarship from the University Of Western Sydney to help him succeed as a musician in this industry.
In May 2015, Benny made his way to Brisbane to open new opportunities for live performances and since then has lived in Brisbane performing full time. Benny performed at the 2015 ClubsNSW Conference in the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre and since then has become a regular talent among Clubs Functions across Australia.

The Benny Nelson Summer Tour.
Benny Nelson fully managed his first very own Tour, which took 12 months of planning. The Tour went for the duration of 32 Days, consisted of 16 Shows from CANBERRA-SYDNEY-NEWCASTLE-TAMWORTH-BINGARA-WARIALDA-TOOWOOMBA-GOLD COAST-BRISBANE. Some 11,000kms were travelled by road and air.
Accompanying Benny on the tour were long time friends and some of NSW best musicians, Thomas Waller (UNSW Music Student) on Drums and Jackson Besley (TDP & Schools Spectacular) on Bass Guitar and Vocals as Benny Nelson's Band.
The Tour was a great success.

Benny plans to spread even wider across Australia, targeting the East Coast, Byron Bay, Port Macquarie, Wollongong, Canberra and Melbourne, as well as continuing to regularly perform at all his current venues. More writing, recording and the release of his Debut EP is underway.
