1814 have fast become a major draw card on the New Zealand Summer Festival circuit playing 200+ shows a year at home and Australia. 1814 started out in 2004 and have since gained a huge reputation for their live shows and extensive touring throughout New Zealand, being on the road months on end. Debut album Jah Rydem was released in 2008 and made the NZ top 20 album charts. It was placed #1 along with three top 10 singles in the Independent Music NZ (IMNZ) charts during 2010. Jah Rastafari was also the highest selling down load of the year in 2010 during this time and Whakahonohono mai picked up the Radio airplay award 3 years in a row at the Maori Music Awards. The Album Jah Rydem has gone on to become one of NZ's Top selling Reggae records selling in excess of 30,000 copies. 2011 saw the band open for reggae royalty Damien Marley and Hip Hop icon Nas during their Distant Relatives Tour in NZ. Also opening for one of the greatest bands to ever come out of Jamaica "Third World" and soon after, a support gig with Michael Franti & Spearhead.
