About The Jess Wilson Band
The Jess Wilson Band is a Houston, Texas rock and roll group molded in the folk, blues, and roots music tradition cultivated on the Texas Gulf Coast. Currently working on finishing their first professionally recorded album, tentatively titled The Order and the Chaos, the Jess Wilson Band has had the opportunity to play in the club scene in Houston for the past 2 years, doing shows at Fitzgerald’s, Rudyard’s, Southern Goods, Last Concert Cafe, Warehouse Live and several other establishments around the Houston and Austin.
In 2014, after almost two years of a revolving doors of musicians and failing to gain footing (mostly due to members relocating, time constraints, or indifference), the Band set on a lineup compiled of Billy Forrest on Bass, Ben Sawicki on Lead Guitar, and John Weaver on drums with Wilson on guitar and vocals, all natives of West Houston.
“The chemistry was instant, I remember our first day we were just jamming on a couple simple riffs and I heard flashes of a sound and a feeling of energy coming from each person, and from there it only took a few weeks and we had a solid set of material.” says Wilson.
However, over the last year, the Band has added several players who have been kind enough to sit in when Sawicki, Weaver, or Forrest are unavailable. The Band would have lost its lifeblood if we didn’t have people like Robert Vigil (Bass Guitar), Susan Jackson (Fiddle and Accordian), and Chris Everson (Drums and Keys) who have been there to help the Band make more gigs than would be physically possible for the original 4.
Since their first show together in 2014 at Fitzgerald’s, the Band has enjoyed strong support from fans and looks to release their first album, currently titled The Order and the Chaos, in mid 2016.
