About Tristan Eckerson

Eckerson's life, musical and otherwise, has been that of a nomad since his teenage years, when he left his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio to pursue his musical career. Since then he has lived in Charleston, South Carolina, San Sebastian, Spain, San Francisco, California, Seattle, Washington, and Asheville, North Carolina, and has recently returned to Cincinnati with his family to continue his musical career in his hometown. Throughout his travels he has written music and performed in multiple groups on both U.S. Coasts, Canada, and Europe, recording with members of the Ray Charles Orchestra, writing string arrangements for the Magik*Magik Orchestra, performing at Great American Music Hall, Noise Pop, and Midpoint Music Festival, and receiving his Master's degree in Music Production and Sound Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Combining all of his eclectic musical inspirations and experiences and narrowing his musical focus to solo piano, Tristan released the LP "Trozo", his first ever full length album of solo piano compositions, in the fall of 2016. The album was very well received by his steadily increasing fan base, and was released by the esteemed contemporary classical label 1631 Recordings, who have previously released albums by contemporary artists such as Nils Frahm, Dustin O'Halloran, Jose Gonzalez, Hauschka, and many more. The fall of 2016 saw Tristan embarking on an extensive North American tour in support of "Trozo", with stops in cities such as Washington DC, New York City, Montreal, and Chicago, among many others. During the winter months of 2016 Tristan set to work on a new album of solo piano compositions. "Disarm" was released in September 2017, again by Swedish label 1631 Recordings. Tristan recently completed a month long tour throughout Europe in support of "Disarm", performing solo piano concerts in key cities such as Budapest, Vienna, and Berlin, among many others. The remainder of 2017 will see Tristan continuing to work on new compositions, as well as setting his sites on new music and many more performances for 2018 and beyond. "This miniature song (in length, not in bravado) has already, in the 2 minutes since I've started listening to it, shredded my understanding of life itself into itsy-bitsy scraps." - Indie Shuffle
